Re: Current "portable" Chromium-based browser 'clones' for Puppy....
Thanks for that explainer, Will. I was going to do something similar myself; David's had an 'on-going' issue with this for a while now... I don't have the problem; I only briefly experimented with 64-bit "Slacko" Pups, came to the conclusion that I didn't really like them, and settled with...

Re: Current "portable" Chromium-based browser 'clones' for Puppy....
@ mikeslr:- Thanks for the recap, Mike. And no; I couldn't care less whether me or thee posts about anything; so long as there's a relevant post available on the forum somwhere about any particular subject, it makes no difference whether you post first, or I do. It's not a contest, is it? If you thi...

Re: Current "portable" Chromium-based browser 'clones' for Puppy....
Is there a 'pure' Chromium-Portable, by the way? Uhh....no, is the short answer! 'Clones', based on Chromium, are mostly available as ready-to-use packages. You d/l them, install them, click 'em to run/start. But (and peebee will back me up on this), you CANNOT download a 'generic', ready-to-run Ch...

Re: Should there be forums for fatdog64 and tazpup, in the dog house section?
Perusing the last several posts of this thread, one thing seems apparent; folks seem to want a similar layout to what the Murga-Linux forum had, albeit with even further sub-divisions.....so that each and every 'project' gets its very own, 'special', exclusive slot. A word of caution, kiddiwinks. Un...

Video-calling apps for Puppy...
Evening, all. Video-calling apps are in higher demand than ever ATM. Darry19662018 has already mentioned Zoom:- https://puppylinux.rockedge.org/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=81 ------------------------------------- We also have the perennial M$ Windoze favourite, Skype .....which is mostly pretty reliabl...

Re: Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
Morning, everyone. I have spoken to John's friend who has confirmed that "our" John has passed on 22 May. He died of a heart attack in his sleep. He has left his wife, daughter and twins (born 10 days after his passing.) It is a terrible tragedy that has saddened me, and I'm sure most of t...

Re: Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
Mm. Sad news indeed.....condolences to his family & loved ones. While "John Murga" is far more generic, the fact this this obituary/wake refers to "John de Murga" - which we know was his full name, though he didn't often use it - leaves far less room for doubt. If we correlat...

Re: Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
What gets me is that it was done without any warning. Hopefully we'll get some kind of communication soon. Unhh.....you know, that's not really a fair statement. You make it sound almost as though JM planned to piss everybody off..! The fact of the matter is, nobody yet knows what is happening. It ...

Re: Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
I could be way "off-base" here, but I have a funny feeling about this. I'm half-expecting to see the "under maintenance" message still showing in a week's time.... When was the last time someone was able to login to the murga forum? Can't be certain, but I think I last 'looked-in...

Current "portable" Chromium-based browser 'clones' for Puppy....
Evening, guys. Since ATM I'm none too sure yet if Murga-Linux is coming back online again, I thought I'd post a bunch of links for my "portable" Chromium-based 'clones'. At least you can help yourselves if you want any of these, if nothing else! Brave browser:- https://drive.google.com/dri...

Ah, yes. The "ProSilver 'Special Edition'", if I'm right.....I think?
@ musher0:- Under your username, top right, go to User Control Panel → Board preferences → My board style, and choose "prosilver special edition". That's the alternative theme.

Re: Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
A bit of a shock when you see the message. I'm hopeful it's a positive sign. Me too, mate. Keep your fingers crossed. but if the worst comes to the worst, well.....it's not really "the worst", if you think about it. Here we have a brand-new, up to date modern forum, and good old Ally's sa...

Original Puppy Forums now "Under maintenance", so... Came here, joined as new member, was sent an activation email, clicked the link, it worked, and here I am. :D How's that for a 73-year-old? @ Sylvander:- I see I'm not the only one who's noticed this; I'm just wondering if it is "m...

Murga-Linux - "Under maintenance" (11th Jul 2020) - Signs of life.....or the beginning of "the end"?
Afternoon, all. I'm posting this here simply because I don't know whether this shows the Murga-Linux site is still being actively maintained - where are you, John? - or whether the site has finally "gone down". On the afternoon of the 11th July, 2020, instead of being able to log in to the...

Re: Should their be forums for fatdog64 and tazpup, in the dog house section?
@ rockedge:- Nah; it's not the site, mate. It's doing it in every browser, on every web page. This is a relatively new install of Bionicpup64.....my first 'stable' install since last year's 'betas' finally made it up to 8.0 status. My sole 64-bitzer has been Xenial64 in the meantime... I'm thinking ...

Just joined up many thanks Rockedge. Interesting that email on my gmail.com in spam. Anyway glad to be at this forum. :) @ Darry:- Rockedge is probably right about making sure to use the http s URL.....and it kinda 'gels' with what WiZ was saying in the other thread about GMail 'bouncing' requests ...

Hello Mike! I will be making more of a concentrated attempt to procure the sql data we'll need to perform the upgrade. I would set up a database and file structure that contains all the attachment files from the original murga forum with that forum's data and files on the same host server as the ne...

Re: Should their be forums for fatdog64 and tazpup, in the dog house section?
I'll say one thing here. I agree, fans of any particular Puplet/derivative/ whatever would of course like to see more space devoted to their particular 'favourite'. But let's be realistic about this; if that concession were to be extended to every single Puppy variant out there, you would immediatel...

@ rockedge:-
Any 'thoughts' yet as to how to import the SQL database(s)? Have you asked Flash to see if he can contact John, and explain what we're attempting to do?

I run a thread over at BleepingComputer, in the Unix & Linux sub-forum, entitled 'Puppy Linux Corner'. I'm going to add a post, to let 'em know that we may soon be moving into the 'modern age', at long last..! I shall stress , however, that this is still very much in the 'experimental & test...

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Well, we got there.....eventually! I'm not sure how rockedge has done this, but it definitely doesn't recognise my old Murga account. So, as y'all can see, I've had to create a new one. It only wanted to accept the name as you see; capitals were out, spaces were out, underscores were out........
