Re: Will Tahrpup run in an Intel Atom with 1 GB RAM?
Tahrpup was my very first fully-working Puppy on ye anciente Dell lappie. 'Twas the first that ran, OOTB, without ANY messing about. At that time, the Dell was running a 2.2 GHz single-core "NetBurst"-gen 'Celery-stick' CPU, and 1 GB of DDR1 RAM. This was an original Inspiron 1100 from 2002, well ...

Re: Zoom client on puppy linux
Hi, Lekium. D'oh! My bad.....I'd forgotten, you're doing this with Virtualbox, aren't you? Mm. Personally, I've never had an awful lot of luck running Pups from a VM. I do know, however, that for a guest OS, running in Virtualbox, to be able to "communicate" with the host OS's hardware, you also ...

Re: Which Puppy for Acer Aspire 1 laptop with 32-bit Intel Atom?
I've been running LxPup 32bit version in an Asus EEE901 for number of years. I'd recommended it in terms of functionality and looks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M67KoTfe9s https://sourceforge.net/projects/lxpup/ :thumbup2: Lekium :- In general, I'd agree with you. I like peebee's Pups; Peter ...

Re: Mozilla browsers have problems playing videos with apulse
ozsouth :- Huh. I get what you're talking about. Maybe you can see why I've liked Chrome for so many years. I'll not pretend it's "issue-free" (it isn't!), but by & large, the clones ARE pretty reliable.....and their audio/video playback has always been top-notch, so long as they have access to all ...

Re: Mozilla browsers have problems playing videos with apulse
ozsouth :- Hi, Oz. Curious to know what you mean by 'issues', mate. I admit, being primarily a user of the 'clones' (Chrome, Iron, Vivaldi, etc.), I don't use the 'zilla browsers that much, but I manage to play vids & stuff when I DO fire 'em up. I do have an audio issue when playing any kind of ...

Done, it's back, thank you. Do I need to delete or clean anything after using an appimage, before saving my session and shutting down? Re: Version dilema
Wiz57 :- Wiz, what d'you think of jrb's 'Precise-lite' for Tsla's netbook? Either that, or 'vanilla' 571? I'm only suggesting it because it's been recognised for a while now as THE 'go-to' Puppy for resource-starved, older hardware. And PipzDex has shown what it's still capable of if you upgrade ...

Hi, rockedge.
Unnh.....I don't get on with VMs, me. I've tried them over & over again, but they've always ended up creating more issues for me than they solve..!
The suggestion IS appreciated, though.

Re: Which is your favorite variant of Puppy Linux?
Gawd. How long's a piece of string? I guess, for day-to-day all-round reliability - and software compatibility - you have to go with the newer ones. For me, my go-to Pup has to be Xenialpup64 7.5 ; absolutely everything works as it should, and I can DO anything I need to with it. Radky's DPup ...

Jake (SFR)'s 'MagDock' does this nicely, giving a full-width 'window' (of selectable depth, and varying levels of magnification) across the top (or bottom - your choice) of the screen. Works very well indeed. Recommended. Find it here:- http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=115930&sid ...

Re: Compiling for 32 bit with 32 bit OS on 64 bit machine
Hi, Dingo. If I run a 32 bit OS on 64 bit machine, can I compile for 32 bit? Not a silly question at all, but, yes.....you can. I won't go into all the technical explanations here, but what not everybody understands is that both 32-bit AND 64-bit are "x86" architecture. The addition that makes "x86 ...

Thanks, Rainer. I've spent hours trying to get this thing to boot on this new HP of mine, and after exhausting every possibility I can think of, I've thrown the towel in. Morning, Mochi. No, PostImage doesn't care if I do that. I use the thumbnails for one simple reason.....because it saves on rockedge's bandwidth. And especially with full-screen images, where you want to see the whole thing in all its glory; a 1920x1080 image uses quite a LOT of it. As for "clean ...

2. Multiboot to XenialPup64. Netflix ok - with Palemoon. I hate to burst your bubble, but that is physically, and code-wise, impossible. Palemoon does not now, and never will, support DRM. Re: How to install Puppy to flash drive?
I think a big part of the reason why Etcher doesn't work in Puppy is that most mainstream distros are looking for the /media directory; this is where they mount external drives to. Puppy, of course, is more "traditional" in this respect, and mounts external drives to the /dev directory.... Balena ...

Re: How to install Puppy to flash drive?
InvalidUsername :- Puppy needs a somewhat different way of installing, due to its unusual file structure. The "frugal" install is preferred; most Puppy software is developed/written/packaged to work from this. Sounds crazy if you're used to traditional Unix, I'll admit, but a 'full' install simply ...

I use Puppy 'cos it's great! It's a great concept. It has a great 'dev' team. It's got a great community, with great support & help. And the greatest thing about it is, you're positively encouraged to contribute back to that community, in whatever way you feel able to. There's absolutely no pressure ...
