Re: Do not use abreviation to give Puppy version information

I wonder if it would be possible to write a bash script that collected a bunch of info (including distro_specs) and other stuff that would remove doubt about the puppy under test. Maybe including info such as creation date/time and size of main puppy sfs? Would be handy to ask newbies to click on ...

Re: Linux and Puppy versions that support MW's portable apps

Governor :- What do the people who use other distros do for portable apps? Mm. Well, technically speaking, AppImages, Flatpaks and Snaps all qualify as "portable" apps. I don't know how it is with Snaps and Flatpaks; both require a 'framework' to be in place in whatever distro you use them in ...

geo_c :- Well, thanks for the "vote of confidence", old son. It IS appreciated. Me, I still run Tahrpup64 and Xenialpup64.....along with a highly-customized build of an old, personal favourite, Slacko 5.6.0. Yes, I'm perfectly well aware that Tahr64 is 10 years old, Xenial64 is 8 yrs old, and 5.6.0 ...

Re: Linux and Puppy versions that support MW's portable apps

Governor :- Um.....you COULD try AntiX Linux . When I first embarked on this whole business with the portable apps, some 5 years ago - and let us not forget to give credit here to fredx181 , since it was he that got me thinking originally with his own 'portable' Firefox - I was at that time running ...

Here is something in Woof-CE many people could get involved in. Updating the software that is in the Woof-CE/noarch repository. https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE-noarch/tree/master/pet_packages-noarch If any of these have newer versions they need to be in this repository. Re: Avidemux or simplescreenrecorder problem

About the only way I can think of to "convert" to DivX format is with ffmpeg. On the command-line, you need to be a top-flight guru to even understand it, but Jasper's suggestion above of using QWinFF might be the way to go..... I've reached the limit of MY abilities with this stuff, I'm afraid ...

bigphil :- Well, this is a sod, and no mistake! When I first built the XVidCap-portables, I had them working correctly with audio in all my Puppies. It's not one I use a lot; personally, I prefer recordMyDesktop myself, so I don't tend to look at XVidCap very much. I've just tried the 32-bit ...

bigphil :- Hm.... I've found myself that it may be a deeper, underlying issue with the way XVidCap is implemented under the 64-bit architecture. If I try to record audio, it comes out sounding a bit like I've been using laughing gas at the dentist.....all kinda "squeaky" & "warbly". Don't actually ...

Small update - now @ v1.6.

Added options to "Saved files..." button; you can either view your saved images directly in Viewnior, OR open the CamShots directory with ROX so you can move, copy, delete, etc.....

Link as above in post #1.

@Geek3579 :-

You could try my latest creation if you ARE after capturing a 'still' JPG image.....FSWebcamGUI.

Entirely up to you.....unless of course, '.jpg' was a 'typo'..?

Geek3579 :- HI @nilsonmorales :- This script works well. Now, how would I store the image from the webcam into a .jpg ??? I don't think that would be possible with the script as-is. Currently, it's written to give a 'Live' videostream.....and from the sound of things, you're asking for a 'still ...
