More to the point, what I don't understand is how you got access to post in a "locked" forum?

Can't figure that one out.

BarryK :- I don't know about KDE apps. I suppose could have a go at compiling them. You might find you'll be biting off more than you can chew, Barry. Anything to do with KDE makes, shall we say, assumptions about your system & software. For a start, you'll need to have the FULL install of whatever ...

Hmm. Here, it's just after 8 pm - an hour and a half after Fred's last post - and for me, it's all accessible. This is in Opera-portable, running under Tahrpup64 ATM. I assume it's all 'fixed' now?

Re: Installing Nvidia driver in BookwormPup64 10.0.8

The problem is not Debian, but a GPU vendor that doesn't maintain drivers for old hardware that work with new kernels. If NVIDIA doesn't provide drivers and firmware (closed source) it doesn't matter what distro you use, who's building it or how - it won't support your GPU. If NVIDIA says your GPU ...

Re: Installing Nvidia driver in BookwormPup64 10.0.8

bigpup / shinobar :- Doing stuff that way is absolutely fine IF your GPU is new enough to be supported by whatever the current 'mainline' driver happens to be in the repos. In my case, support for the GT 710 was dropped around 18 months ago; the last supported driver was the 480-series. So for me ...

Jamayka24 :- Mm. Okayyy... Well, it's perfectly possible to remove the shortcuts ("launchers", as they're called). It's also possible to reduce the number of workspaces to one, although multiple workspaces can be really useful, and permit the execution of different apps/tasks at the same time ...

jamesbond :- Just so you know, Midori 11.4 requires glibc 2.38. It won't run on anything older. Which means that even Bookwormpup64 would be a non-starter, Jim, since that's "only" glibc 2.36. This being the case, it rather looks like Midori is now out of reach.....until Puppy catches up, that is ...
