In my experience, there is no perceptible difference between VGA and HDMI.

Is there a problem with what you have?

Re: How to temporarily disable Hosts file?

fredx181 your solutions worked perfectly, with a little adjustment... My original hosts file had two entries, youtube and crazygames. Each URL was separated by a line. Your unblock script stops at the first line space, so it simply needed to have the line removed. With the two entries immediately o...

How to temporarily disable Hosts file in Fatdog? (Solved)

I have kids in the house who I want to stop from watching stuff on youtube and other sites. I have added youtube to my hosts file, which blocks it. Works well until I want to watch something myself. I'd like to have a script that I can invoke the host with the block and then run it again and it lift...

Re: Zoneminder on F96-CE_4 with Hiawatha Web Server

I love the idea of Zoneminder, but have never had any luck getting cameras that work properly with it. Recently ended up buying an expensive proprietary camera system instead.

Is there a trick to getting webcams to work with it?

Hi @jamesbond

Thanks for the update. Graphicsmagick is fixed. Imagemagick spits out an MD5 mismatch error and won't update.

ImageMagick - No Decode Delegate [CLOSED]

When trying to convert a whole directory's worth of JPG files off my camera (make them smaller for easier upload to Facebook) I usually use imagemagick. Simple code like this: mogrify -resize 50% *.JPG In Fatdogs gone by, that works simply and converts every file, overwriting the original files with...

With Chrome when I move the window, or double click the title bar to maximize it, the cursor grabs the window and will not let it go. I have figured out if I press enter it lets go of the window, but it was almost mouse breakingly annoying for a bit there. Another annoyance, alt+ window move won't l...

seems that this might be a chrome only issue, but with wobbly windows turned on and then trying to move the window by grabbing the title bar is horrendous. All other windows don't seem to have an issue.

Is this question from 1997?? Are you using dialup? By my understanding a winmodem is only good for connecting to the internet via dialup, but not to a LAN. (can you even get dialup these days?) A "real" modem will provide networking capabilities on your local network as well as connection ...

Mount a disk and save the torrent to there.

Either use a hard drive or a USB / flash drive of some kind, all will work.

Re: LG washing machine owner disconnected his device from Wi-Fi after noticing excessive outgoing daily data traffic

I have read on a non-reliable source that these things can be used a very small scale blockchain devices. They're basically useless individually, but if every LG washer in the world was doing a little chugging at the cost of the owner rather than LG (or whomever is in control of the data usage) that...

Re: How to transfer music file to email attachment?

Hey Sky

To copy a track, you'd need to rip it from the CD. You can't just copy the files from the CD and expect it to work.

What puppy are you using? Most come with a ripper or some kind. If you rip the track, it'll create a shareable file, like an mp3 which you'd be able to send to your pals.

Re: CUPS upgrade question (output pages order reversed)

Does this printer print with the printed side up when the page comes out? I saw that mentioned in a few threads when researching your problem, and that simple thing is what causes the reversal. All the printers I own print face down, so everything comes out in the right order. If it were to print fa...

Re: CUPS upgrade question

I'm not an expert on printers, but that sounds a whole lot more like a driver or more likely a settings issue for your printer, rather than a CUPS issues.

What driver are you using?

How to tell why this machine is crashing?

I have a machine that is giving me random errors lately. I'm pretty sure it is hardware related, but not sure if there's a way to tell what's causing the problem, whether it's a drive, memory or mobo or something else.

This is the screen dump I just got from a crash...

Re: Clean your fans!

My home computer was starting to chug a bit so opened it up and lo and behold, shag carpet on the cooler. This is AMD FX-8320 which runs pretty hot at the best of times. With the carpet on the cooler, it was really cooking. The sensors readout has gone from 45 degrees to 12-13 degrees. I don't think...
