Re: The end is nigh
Browsers are insecure by their very nature. The totally secure browser simply doesn't exist; it's an oxymoron in real terms, 'cos the only 100% secure browser is one that NEVER goes online. Which makes it at best an ornament.....as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Re: The end is nigh
Well yes, the only time I'm really cautious is with banks and even then I don't feel much danger just don't want that risk. Probably just a bit paranoid since I don't see any reports here of anything dodgy ever happening. Case of better safe than sorry.

Re: The end is nigh
Maybe the best pratice for those with concern is to only access important sites such as banking with dedicated boot sessions using pupmode 5
Maybe so, but it provides no great security really anyway if the underlying system components are not up-to-date security-wise. I would therefore advise ...

Re: Peppermint OS vs. Puppy Linux
The comparison between distros using Wayland and those using the likes of great little XFCE is certainly interesting and KDE Plasma is pretty speedy nowadays too for those who don't like tiling per se.
I can't say that I notice any difference at all between the xorg based distros I run and ...

Alternative:
Porteux v2.0 kernel 6.14.0, under 750MB-ram, under 500MB-iso
Frugal or direct isobooting with persistence.
Porteus is okay. It's a clever design, and I've often given it a try as the years go by, but it is not quite ever what I myself want, but fine if you do.
Having said that ...

Re: Peppermint OS vs. Puppy Linux
Please tell me. I am trying to migrate from Linux Mint dominance. I thought Peppermint OS was the solution.
Depends why you want to migrate from Linux Mint; I use the xfce variant of that much of the time and find it a great distro.
However, by default it is large and a full install and we can ...

The hosting prices have soared upwards in the last 2 years. rockedge.org started 15 years ago with around $60 a year for unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage on a shared server. Same with puppylinux.com which also started off with registration and the shared host server costs being around $70 ...

Exactly. Lot of fuss and criticism about next to nothing. Can easily add in missing module. Different hardware situation, similar problems can arise. Anyway ...

Re: What Boot Settings for KLV-Airedale for Making Thumbdrive Last
I think one can use the partition UUID like this to target the partition holding the upper_changes and boot into RAM2 mode.
Remember that all the UUID and LABEL names are for example purposes only and will need to be swapped with your values.
example using the UUID for /mnt/sdc1/persistence and ...

Note that there are also these two fine KL Arch-based creations by josejp2424:

KLA Manjaro JWM

It would be appropriate to ask josejp2424 if he wants them on DIstrowatch.

Re: A proper website for Kennel Linux?
I'd suggest KLV-Airedale and one of Sofiya's recent KDE-based releases, but there are several from Sofiya of interest, and particularly some tiling manager based ones. Sooner or later, we will be more interested in publishing Wayland-based KL distros I feel though (KDE in that mould of course).
