Re: Puppy Linux Security Questions!
I use LibreWolf appimage as my go-to browser, which comes out-of-the-box with most privacy/security features enabled, then I use a handful of security extensions/addons, and enable or disable a few features in about.config. LibreWolf appimage is an easy update, and always kept current. Just drop ...

Re: How necessary is it to keep Linux up to date?
I'm still using an upgraded Racy and Bionic32 both with old kernels dating back to 2013. I haven't experienced any "ill effects" or security issues so far. Both my Puppy systems are read-only though (don't use a savefile/folder for changes)
So, with no savefile, do you have ...

Re: Audacity not launching after install
@k1e3w5 :-
You could perhaps try the AppImage-based Audacity-portable I built a while back. This is Audacity 3.1.2.....whether that's new enough for you or not I don't know, but if you're interested you can find the thread here:-

Re: Audacity not launching after install
I installed Audacity from the Puppy package manager. It has put a launch icon in the Multimedia menu but Audacity does not appear when I click on it. Any ideas?
In such cases, I'd suggest:
open a terminal and enter command:
audacity
see if that reveals missing dependency.
root# audacity ...

How necessary is it to keep Linux up to date?
Relatively speaking (compared to windoze etc), how necessary is it really to keep Linux up to date for a typical home user?
I have a 6 year old Mint 18.3 linux on an old laptop and support stopped in 2021.
Is it really that much of an issue, considering the extra security that Linux already ...

Re: Epson XP-245 working by wireless on Fossa64 9.5 but CUPS not storing printer defaults
@k1e3w5 - regarding A4 - an old fix was to make a text file in /etc named papersize. All it contained was a4 (yes, lowercase a). There is also a printer config file in libreoffice's share subfolder. Maybe psprint.conf?

Thank you.

Interestingly in Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia, CUPS all works and saves it as A4 and as the Epson printer by default .... so the million years passes very quickly ;) but it does seem to be a different printer dialogue box. Screenshots below.

Any idea when the next Ubuntu-based 64-bit Puppy is planned for ? I see that fossaPup64 is about two and a half years old since release .... In Windows this two and a half years would mean alot .... Does it mean much within the Linux field of play?

Could I just switch the power off for an immediate shutdown? I wouldn't want to do this very often and usually want it left as now to save on shutdown.
