Re: Lupu 525

A lot of work has been done on making it work better and fixing the code, in the boot process. Lupu versions of Puppy where still using a lot of old original coded files. If you have the frugal install in a directory inside another directory. Move it to just on the partition, so it is not inside an...

Re: Lupu 525

@freya I'm posting this reply directly from Lupu-528.005, using Mozilla Firefox 45.1.1 ESR browser, just for old times sake! The computer is the old workhorse, a Dell Optiplex 760 desktop with 4 Megs of RAM. The Lupu 528.005 was frugally installed in the exact same manner as you described - my usua...

Re: Lupu 525

Give it a try without the "psubdir=/lupu528 pmedia=atahd pfix=fsck". Lupu 5.28 was the 1st Puppy I really used. I have it still installed on an old 386 laptop. Thanks to you both. Tried this and I think I got slightly better results. It said something about searching the hard disk partiti...

Re: Lupu 525

It works okay it's just that with the new puppies I can boot them by copying the files onto a hard disk and pointing grub at them. I just mount the iso and copy all the files into a subdirectory (might be the problem too) on the hard disk. That way I can have multiple puppies in the same partition. ...

Re: Booting Puppy ISO files, enhanced loopback.cfg, utility to do it

I'm presently just mounting the iso and copying the files to a sub directory on my hard disk. I have lots of puppies on the same partition this way. It sure beats creating usb sticks over and over which seems a much more hit and miss affair these days for some reason. This works great with fresh pup...

Re: Lupu 525

I tried it: title Puppy Lupu 528 (sda3/lupu528) root (hd0,2) kernel /lupu528/vmlinuz psubdir=/lupu528 pmedia=atahd pfix=fsck initrd /lupu528/initrd.gz It bails out.. unable to find the lupu_528.sfs file. I'm copying the files over directly from the iso instead of all the hastle of creating a usb sti...

Lupu 525

I've been putting lots of new puppies in the same partition in separate folders. It is working great except I also want to run an older puppy called Lupu 525. When I put this puppy in its own folder it boots but fails to find the main sfs after it has loaded the initrd and so fails to do a switch ro...

Re: Limine Bootloader

This looks really interesting.

Can I ask does it have different stages like grub?
If so how big are each of the stages in bytes?

Re: Dillo browser with new features

Hi Amethyst, Yes, Dillo shouldn't be expected to do things that Firefox, Chrome, etc. do. It does have a specific niche, and does fulfill a legitimate need. I did compile this version with HTTPS, and haven't had any problems with accessing secure sites. I get almost no certificate popup messages. O...

Re: Experimental build of Dillo browser with new features

Having a hard time with Dillo at the moment which is annoying as it has always been my fave web browser going waaaaaaay back. The new 3.05 version doesn't seem to work as well as 3.02 which I used to be able to use on a LOT of websites. It might be the way it's configured tho? I've tried to compile ...
