Re: Fatdog64-900 Beta [04 Aug 2023]

I did copy the save folder from FatDog64 900-alpha to 900-beta and it worked fine. The main change to 900-alpha was a firefox installation with extensions and my settings. Also, you can drop the gtk3 installation (and pulse audio?) from the get firefox script.

Re: Failing to boot FD64 9.00 Alpha

I found a problem using the Puppy UEFI tool to burn FD64 900 to a USB stick. The tool makes the minimum partition size of 512 MB which is too small. Changing the size to 5120 MB in the script fixed it. It's hard to buy a quality USB stick below 32 GB.

This 11.0.x is beta but fun to use. The Firefox is tightly bound to Spot so it cannot be used to open html help files. Is there a way to create a root profile for Firefox? My work around was to install hv3 using Synaptical and modify /usr/local/bin/defaulthtmlviewer #!/bin/ash #exec xdgdefaultapp &q...

Re: Minor Annoyance, Firefox is not remembering previous position (Solved)

It is a purely personal choice and centered seems to remember the last browser window size. Everyone should pick what suits them and @Overdrive5 has given us a way to make that choice.

My choice for Firefox is to clear all history but passwords when closed - certainly not remember tabs.

No, it's a win-win game. See: viewtopic.php?t=8161 If you put the lines from Overdrive5's post in jwmrc-personal with "centered" replacing "maximized" as he suggested, the browser will retain its last size.

Re: Boot two Puppies from one USB stick

This all goes to prove there are many ways to get a cat's skin. Ventoy is nice and I use it check out other Linux distributions. Wizard's method using FrugalPup gives a regular frugal installation on a USB stick. It has a small FAT32 boot partition and the Puppies are on an f2fs partition using the ...

Re: VanillaDpup 9.3.x

I was one complaining so will vote for not-maximized.

The best idea is to retain the window size when it was last closed. That way if you close the browser maximized (or half sized) it will re-open maximized (or half sized). Even the hated Microsoft OS does it this way.

Boot two Puppies from one USB stick

Can't decide between two Puppies? Take them both. The F2StickPup tool was designed for multiple Puppy distributions. It puts two partitions on your USB stick. The first is a FAT32 boot and the second, larger, partition is f2fs for the distributions. There may not be a tool to add another Puppy to a ...

This command will sometimes work if a modern printer is set to a specific ip address. Generic: lpadmin -p myprintername -E -v ipp://10.1.2.3/ipp/print -m everywhere The "printername" is just the label you want to use for the printer. For a Brother printer I used: lpadmin -p HL-L2340D-ipp -...

Firefox opens in a "cascade" position offset from the top left corner without any command.Your "centered" choice better for browsing.

Glad you posted since I looked in vain for why Firefox was always full screen.

Re: Minor Annoyance, Firefox is not remembering previous position (Solved)

Thank you!

This also works for S15Pup and likely others. The size of the Firefox window when you exit Firefox will reappear, centered, on the next launch. You need to restart xwin after changing this file.

I wonder if it will remember size and position if the lines are commented out?

Remastered Fatdog Iso doesn't use Savefile

I'm very impressed with Fatdog 813. So much capability in so few bytes! The distribution Iso works well and all my changes (added mupdf, bookmarks to Seamonkey, and system settings) go to the Savefile and are loaded on reboot. Then tried Iso Remaster which did incorporate those changes when re-loade...
