Use @BarryK's simple network set-up, a.k.a. SNS. Works fine.

You would be right if you're guessing Frisbee, but I will try SNS & report back when on that machine.

Hotspot & tether connections but no Internet access

In Fossa64 I'm getting reported successful connection to my Android EITHER by tether or wi-fi hotspot but NO Internet access in a browser.

Do others have this problem?

http://forum.puppylinux.com/download/file.php?id=11403&sid=6ce4a8e6827d600fc73f4464f1d4c87f I went through all of these one by one and the very last option, card 1 , was success. Bingo. The only thing I'm still curious about is there are only two mixer controls with card 1 activated, PCM & Mic ...

Re: Fossa64 splash: difference between ram only & copy .sfs files to ram?

I hope I understand your question correctly.. Hello Feek, The question is merely: If both default & copy .sfs files to ram will load saves & put system .sfs in ram, what is the difference between them? Bigpup asserts the second is just a backup menu option, but I do not understand why confusion is ...

Re: Missing Retrovol sliders/labels?

I had to untick the analog box (IEC958 - audio ports on the back of the PC) and then select the HDMI port to ensure that I was getting audio playback through my monitor speakers. jasper they are all checked & all but one mention HDMI. SCW.png My Retrovol only displays the five IEC entries (no ...

Re: Missing Retrovol sliders/labels?

I'm going to hazard a guess that your rig is quite an old one, yes? IEC958 is the reference 'standard' associated with S/PDIF sockets.....these are more often than not a type of co-axial port that carries pure, digitally-encoded audio. good info but brand spanking new Win 11 ASUS laptop Are you ...

Re: Fossa64 splash: difference between ram only & copy .sfs files to ram?

It is intended: copy is a remedy boot option for the default, but it will use a save unlike ram only?

The need for copy then is the one that is challenging.

If a menu option ever worked wouldn't it always :?:

Re: SD reader not recognized in 64-Xenial

Edit: Try to make fdrv file with mmc drivers from gyrog's Firmware repository: http://www.fishprogs.software/puppy/index.html I understand the gist of your suggestion but am not technically advanced enough to see the implementation roadmap. I tried Bionic64 which sees the SD reader as well, as does ...

Re: SD reader not recognized in 64-Xenial

Open /dev in Rox and insert SD card if system recognize it you should see some dirs/files in bold. eg. /dev/block dir should be in bold and inside you should see symlink to your SD card eg. sdb . You can update kernel, check this post: https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=68773#p68773 In ...

Re: SD reader not recognized in 64-Xenial

useful pointers:
UXenial, kernel, /dev

What would a /dev file for an SD card reader look like?

@puppy_apprentice suppose I am a browser surfer, but Pale Moon is a definite favorite.

Seems like it's the smallest footprint full-featured browser.

Re: SD reader not recognized in 64-Xenial

I have same problem with Slacko 6.3.2. Hello apprentice, I use scripts to mount/unmount too, but in this case the SD is not recognized in Xenial. The system has to see it for it to be manually mountable. That is what I meant by "or at terminal". I guessed it's some kind of system driver. I could ...

Re: How to modify the default browser when using xfce?

XFCE has a separate preferred apps chooser which might conflict with the JWM version.

It's called Preferred Applications, searchable in the Control Panel:

SD reader not recognized in 64-Xenial

I have a desktop with an SD reader. It is recognized in Windows & 64-Fossa, but in Xenial an SD does not appear recognized as a desktop partition or at terminal. USB & internal partitions are still recognized. I have both Puppy Event Manager -> Icon Handler boxes checked. Am I missing a setting in ...
