Hi, I'm using BookwormPup64 10.0.8.

I have a Thinkpad laptop with a Mini DisplayPort output. Using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable, I'm able to connect the laptop to a HDMI input on my TV. Doing this in S15Pup64, I can get my laptop display to appear on the TV and configure it using Zarfy.

When I try to do the same in BookwormPup64 ...

Sorry to resurrect this thread (again), but I never managed to fully resolve this issue.

On the latest version of S15Pup64, Timidity still won't install from the PPM.

The fix provided earlier in this thread works, but the problem is that when Timidity server is running, no audio works anywhere ...

@ozsouth That has worked, nice one! I've installed the latest S15Pup64 with the fdrv, zdrv, vmlinuz from the 240223 release and now no more problems with suspend.

ozsouth , thanks a lot for your help with this, appreciate it. I've just tested your combo pup but still get the freeze when reopening the laptop lid. All the previous S15Pup64s I've tested have been with a fresh install, no save folder, and the issue is only present from S15Pup64-22.12-240309 ...

yolhurt - that's probably best. There is a lesser suspend - freeze (normal suspend is mem). Most PCs have it. Everything is in low power, screen goes blank, but fan might run very occasionally. Must tap power button to resume. Mem is recommended for most users .

ozsouth , cheers for your help. I didn't get any error messages with "dmesg | grep err". The /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh was the same on the last working puppy, as was the acpi_poweroff.sh file. I think I'll just disable the lid suspend for now, but hope there might be a possible fix for this.

yolhurt - your lid is going into hibernate state. A try at own risk option - the .pet linked below won't totally fix it, but lid-lift then mouse movement (or a key press, say shift) is better than a lockup. See: https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=127947#p127947

Just so you know, Midori 11.4 requires glibc 2.38. It won't run on anything older.

Thanks for the info. In that case, I won't bother trying to update to 11.4, as I don't want to mess about with trying to update glibc on S15pup64.

Thanks muggins. However, downloading the tar.gz file and extracting it gives me a folder with "usr" and "opt" folders inside. If I delete my MidoriPortable64/midori folder and replace it with the one in the extracted opt folder, Midori no longer starts.

I'd prefer to just change the update script ...

The updated update script no longer works. The link it tries to capture the latest version of Midori from appears to be incorrect.

How can I change the script to make it download the latest version? (which Midori is nagging me to do).

Have you tried the latest S15...64 version from here ?

Unfortunately, Timidity still fails to install from the PPM in the latest S15Pup64 release (I tested it on a fresh frugal install).

Since earlier this year I've been using the workaround provided by rvgcrsn51 in this thread, but ...

After starting Timidity server, I sometimes find that (even after trying to stop it) no audio works until I reboot.

If I enter "/etc/init.d/timidity_server stop" in the console (before rebooting) this is what I get:

cat: /var/run/timidity.pid: No such file or directory
kill ...

The "Privacy & Network Access" pop-up should only appear on the first run, yes? That being the case, your point no 1. rather sounds as though the config file isn't even getting created, so VLC is acting as though EVERY run is a 'first run'. Hmm....

Whenever I open Sylpheed in S15Pup, this "app innit done" box pops up in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and displays for a few seconds. This is slightly annoying as it covers my taskbar icon showing whether I have any new mail. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop this box appearing ...

I'm very much a "visual" person; I respond far better to plenty of visual 'stimuli' - like clear images/icons, good design, intuitive layout, etc - than I do to a wall of text. But hey! that's just me.

Cheers Mike, I've just given Tixati a quick try in S15Pup and it seems to work well. No download issues and a nice interface too. I think I'll just forget about Transmission and use this for torrent files from now on.
