Re: Issues With Mounting /mnt/sdd1 As Writeable

How do I swap kernels within Puppy Linux?

I've only ever done that on more hardcore distros like Gentoo.

Re: Issue With Accessing SFS File For Jackalpup

So all I would need to do is point the Stickpup utility to the USB flash drive and use the .img file for Jackalpup full?

However I would still have to boot into some other Puppy Linux derivative to get this to work in the first place.

Is there anyway I can use this from Linux Mint as well?

For reference, here's the same save file on the Linux Mint drive while I booted into Linux Mint, so it appeared to save to that drive just fine, but for whatever reason, it has issues accessing it...

Issue With Accessing SFS File For Jackalpup

Hey there, I booted into Jackalpup on my main desktop. When I went to shutdown I decided to save ro SDE1 which contained the ext4 filesystem that contains my Linux Mint install. When I attempt to boot into Jackalpup using any option for using that same SFS file, I get the screen seen in this screens...

Issues With Mounting /mnt/sdd1 As Writeable

Hey there, I just booted into Jackalpup from my main desktop computer, and I double clicked into the 'sdd1' drive that showed up at the bottom of the desktop. This is mounted in /mnt/sdd1. The reason why I am asking for help for this post is that if I try to make a folder in Ardour under that specif...

Re: Question Regarding Using WINE On Puppy Linux To Install VSTs For Music DAWS Like Reaper Etc

I can't say for sure those two applications will run, but I can say that I have run Reaper successfully under wine using jackalpup. It's a good possibility you can get those apps running. I'm able to get most software installed and booting running under wine, however using software which interfaces...

Re: Question About Running Portainer In Puppy Linux To Run Docker Compose Based Containers

Cool thanks dude. I'm looking to convert my old Thinkpad X230 running Fossapup to more of a NAS setup, and that would include running some stuff like Navidrome off of Portainer based containers since its easier to just swap out containers on the fly than having to manually compile or install things ...

Question Regarding Using WINE On Puppy Linux To Install VSTs For Music DAWS Like Reaper Etc

Hello there, Does anyone happen to know if Addictive Drums 2 or Izotope would be able to run on Jackalpup somehow? Those two programs are literally the only thing keeping me from swapping out from Windows since I have always found them to be so damn good for drum recording and mixing, and don't want...

Question About Running Portainer In Puppy Linux To Run Docker Compose Based Containers

Hey there, I put Fossapup64 on am old Thinkpad X230 and it has been working pretty good. My only thinking now is if I can somehow install Docker as well as Portainer to help manager Docker compose based containers? Has anyone here done this? Asking since I have some Docker Compose files to deploy st...

Re: Questions Regarding Contributing To Puppy LInux Or 'woof-ce'

Hey its me again, funnily enough I had even more personal stuff get in the way of things. I tried picking up the pace again to check my latest notes, and I'm exploring 'woof-ce' to be able to create an ISO from my forked copy first to see 'how' it works before diving into the 'Issues' page. I have a...

Re: jackalpup 0.0 - (rc2) plug and play audio puplet

I had to force Ardour to connect to JACK in order for my MIDI device to show up accordingly. However, now it complains that Qjackctl is set to '48000' HZ while the default Ardour session is set to '41000' HZ. Should I set my QJackctrl settings to accommodate '41000' HZ instead? This is coming from a...

Re: jackalpup 0.0 - (rc2) plug and play audio puplet

I got my main audio to work by changing the "Interface" setting in the middle of 'Qjackctl' to 'hw: USB' which is for my Scarlett Solo USB Interface so that I can monitor inputs accordingly. Now I have to just do the same to allow for the Arturial Keylabs 61 keyboard in that case.

geo_c That's a pretty fair assessment. To be honest, its a USB 2.0 drive, specifically a 'SanDisk 64GB Cruzer Glide USB 2.0 Flash Drive': https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007YX9OA8/ This being said, your point to use an SSD is on-point, even when using an external one. @Shortstop; on your next boot, would you watch the boot progress and share which of the SFSs the process is slowed on? It could reflect the element that impacts slowed operations on your platform. How would I get that boot info for you? Happy to share it with you somehow. I'm assuming its stored in...

So I've been doing some DAW work tonight, seeing what tools I'm really gravitating towards, and all I can say is WOW! Jackalpup (with updated ydrv) is rockin' it! Tonight I imported some of my pigtronix loops, that were originally constructed as multi-tracks midi-synced to a Boss-slicer, into Lupp ...

puddlemoon Sweet, thanks for the update to this. I will probably upgrade my Jackalpup drive accordingly by just wiping it, and using your newest rip from scratch. Honest question, how do you find those 'used' stuff boxes on Amazon?

I see YouTubers fix broken stuff from Amazon, but never see actually "How" to actually buy them.

Would be curious for old handhelds, etc, personally like Gameboys, etc.

This is to deploy dotfiles for Emacs, as well as other terminal utilities like 'tmux', 'ranger', 'w3m', etc.
