Re: Fossapup User Contributed Packages
newpet
Why are you still using Windoes XP applications that are 20 years old?
I still use a slimmed down version of WinXP for some tasks, maybe a matter of affection, dunno, but it's fair to say that some programs may not have a corresponding version for linux, or not equally light at least ...

Re: Free VPN for FossaPup64
Hi all,
after a couple of months, during which it worked seamless, it suddenly stopped working.
VPN Type: NONE
My OS is untouched (a live on a write-protected usb pen).
Is it just me or does this happen to some of you too?
Regards.

Re: RTL8821CE and wifi problems (solved)
Great support! Surgical and granular. Everything works like a charm now.
For those who experience issues like this, keep in mind that sometimes frisbee won't work when launched first, I mean once installed oz kernel with ydrv mentioned above. Therefore let 'simple network manager' run ...

Re: RTL8821CE and wifi problems
First of all, I want to point out a couple of things, that I think are useful to better understand the problem:
- I use a 'live' usb pendrive with a write-protection switch, in order to prevent it from being written (read only)
- No changes ...

RTL8821CE and wifi problems
I need some help with my problematic HP 240 laptop. My system:
- FP64-9.5
- kernel 6.5.2-rock-rt8
- rtl8821ce-fossa64k5453
My laptop worked fine for many months, but one day for some reason it no longer turned on. I had to replace the whole MB with a brand new one.
Oddly enough, my ...

Re: Dead touchpad
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I tried to setup the touchpad by its relevant section, but it's not even detected.
However, I finally decided to return the laptop to the seller, mainly because its poor display quality, not the one I expected for an IPS, and the flimsy and noisy keyboard ...

Re: Fossapup User Contributed Packages
Hey Jasper, I installed both openssl-1.1.1t-x86_64 and openssl_DEV-1.1.1t-x86_64 and PPM repos update stopped working.
Once uninstalled it and reinstalled 1.1.1s version, PPM update works again.
Cheers

Is there anyone who can compile a recent version of Claws Mail (with Oauth2 working, so from 3.18 onwards, better latest 3.19.1) for FossaPup64 ? Maybe as portable?

Re: F96-CE_3 Stable Release
What other Puppy version was used?
Simply an exact copy of FP-96CE on another usb key. I always do a backup copy of my working puppies, you never know. Accidentally, same brand and model.
Cheers.

I checked both save files (original and its copy) for checksum: identical.
In the first one, default connection manager works flawless; in the exact copy, same checksum, it doesn't.
How is it possible?

Re: F96-CE_3 Latest Stable Release
I think you are missreading newpet's post.
They need the RTL8821CE driver for F96-CE_3 for their WIFI device.
The Fossapup64 9.5 one is not going to work.
F96-CE_3 is using a different kernel.
Drivers are kernel specific.
Exactly.

Re: F96-CE_3 Latest Stable Release
Fresh install with Unetbootin on my 8gb pendrive, HP 240 G8.
Everything works OOTB, besides wireless. It's a RTL8821CE.
In FossaPup64 9.5, "rtl8821ce-fossa64k5453.pet" does the job.
Any help?
Thanks.

Paste 'brightness-set 10' in /etc/rc.d/rc.local, in order to avoid 'eyes burning' when booting. This value (10) may change of course depending by your taste.
Download and copy 'adjbacklight' into /bin folder.
