Back playing with Puppy again. Installed Mint instead of Win7 on this old laptop, and had a handful of Puppy's on there as dual/multiple boot.
Saved all the Puppy's and put em back on there and now want to boot from em.
But one save file gives me this error and information:
The filesystem ...

Re: Slackware AutoStart X as good as Puppy
That boots me to xdm, then it wants me to login as something other than root. I would use xdm to automatically boot xfce cause I think u can do that, but I can't get past that. Ideas?

I get lots of red text at boot.
Something to the effect of "Loading intel_ishtp_loadermodprobe. intel_ishtp_loader: no such device."
Then a bunch more red text, then Pausing 60 Seconds.
Then more red and something like "Loading intel_ishtp_hidmodprobe. intel_ishtp_hid: no such device ...

Good morning!

click on Icon Theme there are several listed and at the bottom access to more themes.
That works for jwm but this is LXDE desktop in this category, so it is a different one.

Re: Can't Change icon Theme
I can change the theme by manually editing the desktop.conf file and saving it. But was hoping there was a more streamlined method.

Re: Weird Executable Issue
As is regularly the case, I was doing it wrong. LXDE says right click the menu entry and select Add to Desktop for each item. That seems to take care of the executable issue with LXDE. There is more to investigate, but that mostly fixes it.
Thanks!

Weird Executable Issue in LXDE [SOLVED]
I have this weird deal where all executables on my desktop ask me whether or not to execute them.
Why?
I feel it is permissions thing. I am running from usb, the puppy files are on fat32 while the save folder is on a different partition, ext3, also on flash drive.
Any ideas?
I also saw ...

As it happens - Paul just asked me the same question the other day. So here is my copied-and-pasted answer.

The answer is going to be complicated because there are a few ways to change the icon themes, depending on what "icon theme" you're talking about. This is true on Puppy as well ...

Re: Cloned Xenial doesn't see Save folder (Solved)
I ran into that myself years ago. There’s a file, *edited* - named fsckme.flg, but it directs Puppy to the location of your save. That file doesn’t move or copy from one partition to another for some reason. I ended up booting into a new save, closing out of it, reboot to ram and then editing the ...

Re: Move Xenial
I booted xenial, created a safe file, a large one ('cause I knew the folder was a few gigs).
I then booted something else on it (another puppy, Bionicpup).
I opened the new xenial save file (mounted it). I deleted those contents.
I copied the ...

Re: Desktop icons
I can change specific icons, I can add icons to the desktop, no sweat. I don't know how to change the overall icon THEME. In JWM one could change all the icons by changing the theme and you would have a whole different set of icons, one click. I am trying to figure out how to do that regularly.

No WiFi on Dell Inspiron / Bionicpup
One of the major bonuses of Puppy is if there are a ton of issues one can just regroup and try another Puppy.
Per a great suggestion via Facebook I ditched Fossa and am now using Bionicpup and it screams along!
BUT CAN'T GET WIFI GOING.
So, what do y'all suggest? Playing with firmware ...

Re: New Lappy for a Puppy
Thx, Mike!
I used the exe back in the day before it had a name. Pretty easy but a bit hacky, at the time. May be smoother now.
Run a few dual boots now, but always welcome input, so will post as I do it.
Ok, thx for the post and am still gathering suggestions.
