Re: Lighthouse64-900

Rebuilt from scratch. Slackware current updated as of Mar11,2024. New initrd to accommodate overlayfs (boot param: punionfs=overlay). This is experimental. Renamed zSBASE.sfs xdrv.sfs which seems to make more sense. Kernel-modules.sfs inside initrd.xz as before, but with option to remove it and rena...

Re: "no such file" error when copying with rox from usb stick to another stick

I think this is not a bug with Rox. If there was a file by the same name (ie, no "file not found" message) the script will stop to ask you if you want to overwrite it. There are a lot of precedents in linux. Warnings are not necessarily meant for us but for the program itself. This one is ...

Re: s15pup64-ovrly - overlayfs-only pup

Don't know if it's peebee's builds or woofCE, but xerrs logging is blocked by default. Makes troubleshooting kinda hard. Boot parameter fsck is not handled by init script unless the device is f2fs sdd card, even though the binaries are present in the initrd (busybox applets). Error is reported in bo...

Re: s15pup64-ovrly - overlayfs-only pup

Does cryptsetup NEED to be copied to /pup_new/initrd? /initrd is not in the path after switchroot so no binaries in there will be influential after rc.sysinit starts unless it asks for them specifically (which it doesn't). My concern is that the cryptsetup in the initrd is statically compiled and i...

Thanks ozsouth . Got the pm and looking forward to testing. A few questions first. I think it's a woofce thing but why is sbin copied to /pup_new/initrd? The init script also tries to place /bin there too but a trailing slash throws an error ("bin is a directory"). I commented those lines ...

Hi bigpup. Lighthouse is a modular X11/xorg, no-systemd puppy-like distribution. Except for the package-management, it's closer to a legacy-puppy than a new puppy. I don't know about overlay-sfs_load but the legacy sfs_load runs fix menus and ldconfig on installation. Slackware's ldconfig will sort out the symlinks. Might also run update-desktop-database. Just like aufs, it sounds like sfs-load-overlay mounts to a lower level in the hierarchy so one wouldn't e...

Unless this system uses systemd (in which case I can't help), pulse audio requires polkit to be up and running and that is what sets up permissions. Also, make sure your user is member of audio group. For systemd problems, the arch linux forum/wiki is most helpfull.

The sources are from packages.ubuntu.com, jwm-2.4.0
should be the same, as installed in original FossaPup.

That problem with the menu button display was fixed in jwm-2.4.2. It's nothing you did but a built-in bug. Try recompiling with newer source and it should be fine.

Re: 6.1.14 64bit old-style kernel - aufs & overlayfs

Your .config and mine (from fatdog DOTconfig) are fairly similar where it comes to aufs. Both builds work well and no problems might be obvious running standard puppies. However, in Lighthouse, up to 40 sfs modules can be loaded via aufs. This kernel version balks and only loads 12 in three differen...

Re: TP-Link TL-WN823N v3 USB WIFI Adapter will not connect

Not sure if your tp-link dongle requires the same driver (8192eu) as mine, but I need to blacklist rtl8xxxu in the kernel command line:

Code: Select all

linux /vmlinuz blacklist=rtl8xxxu

for grub2 or

Code: Select all

append blacklist=rtl8xxxu

in menu-1st or grub4dos.
Maybe worth a try if there is a conflict.
