Re: save2session is looking for sdc, but my disk is at /dev/sdb

I backed up my files and gave it a try. Perhaps something went awry behind the scenes, but I don't have any problems o report. Chancing sdc to sdb in the BOOTSTATE file seems to have worked flawlessly. Thank you. Rather than saving the MULTI_DEVICE variable, it would seem to be better to find the dr...

Re: save2session is looking for sdc, but my disk is at /dev/sdb

Thanks step. I did already try a lot of plugging and unplugging to try to get it back on sdc, but nothing seems to get sdc anymore in this session.

Despite your warning, it sounds like changing MULTI_DEVICE is probably my best option. Why is that unpredictable?

Re: save2session is looking for sdc, but my disk is at /dev/sdb

Since my boot menu entry specifies the UUID, I don't even understand why save2session is wanting /dev/sdc menuentry "Fatdog64 with unencrypted USB multisession support" { echo Loading ... linux /vmlinuz rootfstype=ramfs waitdev=10 coldplug ntfsnoperm HOSTNAME=fatdog0284-E81B savefile=direc...

save2session is looking for sdc, but my disk is at /dev/sdb

How should I move it to sdc? I actually lost some data because this happened once before and when I saved my session it silently failed to write anything.

Re: Custom sandbox resolution

followup: I tested it with a declared ip of 10.0.0.1 but the second sandbox, which requires me to set the resolution after loading does not list the custom resolution if it is opened while the first sandbox is running. The IP had no impact. I can open the second sanbox with a custom resolution first...

Re: a suggestion about save2flash if save media is not connected

update: I backed up my save files and changed my grub setting to direct. After rebooting in multisession direct I changed the background image and shutdown. Upon reboot, the background reverted to the prior background so the data containing the setting changes must have been lost. Although multisess...

Re: a suggestion about save2flash if save media is not connected

Thank you. It seems that I was timid to change the thing because of the wrong reasons. One of my questions on the other thread was not answered and I simply kept my grub as is because it was working. Based on what you have just explained I now feel confident that direct with multsession will be supe...

Re: Custom sandbox resolution

Thanks. That's handy, but I'm noticing that it should only conflict 1/255 of the time or so. I suspect it may be something else because I tried it a bunch of times before I found a workaround that I am about to share. To be more specific, the custom resolution doesn't appear when I open a second san...

Re: How to run Discord?

Thank you. If anyone else is doing this, the shell commands provided do not go in the sandbox-lxc.sh file. They should be run within the sandbox manually.

After creating /dev/shm I ran

Code: Select all

chmod 1777 /dev/shm

because that was advised by the Discord app.

a suggestion about save2flash if save media is not connected

On a few occasions I have powered down without first plugging in the drive where my save file resides sdc2. Fatdog doesn't prompt the user to remind them to plug it in, it pretends to save and then shuts down. A warning would be better. A related issue is if I click the save session button without c...

Re: How do I fix the touchpad from the terminal?

I think it was a different thread that I read which mentioned a fix had been put in. I have lost data enough times that I try to always push those buttons before shutting down. After many days of continuous use, the touchpad stopped working on fatdog. This happened after running on battery for a couple hours, whereas i typically always keep it plugged in. How to grow the sandbox savefile.img file

I guess that if I create a larger savefile and copy the old contents to the new one then it will work. Is that the proper way? I am aware that some files on the host system can be deleted within the sandbox, and thus masked because they persist on the host system but appear to be absent from the gue...

Representing containers and layers with iconography has proven to be difficult, but a cage is a type of container. Re: Problem using the sandbox

jamesbond JakeSFR step Thanks fellas, I see it now. Xargs is required because it is triggering sed to change the contents of each file in the list processed by xargs. Each of those files contains the name that surprised me and sed strips away the ending beginning with the equals sign. and prints th...

Re: using the sandbox

@JakeSFR
hmm, I think the contents of file are the output from ls presented as file contents through the pipe. Each line is grabbed by xargs and fed into sed which is printing the list of filenames into a temporary file by the next step.
