All Non-Account Imgur Images will be Deleted by May 15 2023
Another devastating blow for the modern web, Imgur has changed their polices to reflect this change and others starting May 15 2023. The vast majority of uploaded images were by anonymous non-registered users. The site started in 2009 but rose to prominence around 2011 so if interested in saving ...

Re: What Power Saving Module does FatDog Use?
I don't have the full answers to your questions, but, why not just use Fatdog as your OS? It would take too long to iron out all the issues I experienced during the few days I had the live session running. Its a very modern PC. In the past a small quirk would take 4 hours to resolve and the same ...

Re: What Power Saving Module does FatDog Use?
Why can't you get Fatdog up and running again? I'm in the middle of a different linux session on the PC in question and I can't do much with the live session running FatDog, for example Vivaldi with my current settings and history profile loaded and VLC had no sound when testing. Even if I booted ...

What Power Saving Module does FatDog Use?
I've had this terrible problem with my monitor not being able to go to sleep ie after a set time the monitor powers off its panel but has standby for keyboard and mouse input. I've tried 8 different OSs and all but 2 fail to get the monitor to sleep properly and FatDog unexpectedly worked. Other ...

Re: Finding special key codes and bindings
Good additional info from both, and I also found this about the Fn key on laptops: "The Fn key is intercepted by the Embedded Controller ("EC") of your laptop. It doesn't produce a normal key symbol...This means you cannot customize it, because ECs for laptops are all different, and if they are ...

Re: Finding special key codes and bindings
I tried this xev cmd in Ubuntu: xev | grep -A2 --line-buffered '^KeyRelease' | sed -n '/keycode /s/^.*keycode \([0-9]*\).* (.*, \(.*\)).*$/\1 \2/p' and it didn't really work at all surprisingly like it did on BionicPup64 8.5 . That little action window would still pop up on the left (what is it for ...

Re: Finding special key codes and bindings
Hello. I'm not an expert on this... Different manufacturers use different functions for Fn-keys. Some kernels provide support for these Fn-keys, mostly acpi-functions if i'm not totally wrong. To get keycodes/keynames for specific keys, try to use xev from a terminal. Not all Fn-keys may be ...

Finding special key codes and bindings
I have a keyboard on this laptop that isn't in the inet file and I played around with terminal finding the modifiers, etc. I did everything in this old topic from 14 years ago on finding special keys and finally used the script showkey when not running X. There is this "Fn" special key for extending ...

Re: Vivaldi crashes on nearly every page
I'll try tapping with three fingers on my touchpad as there isn't a mouse on that device. I may have to re-config that one.
I was running 3.7, not your portable. Even if I find the culprit its unlikely me or anyone else can figure out what to do about it.

Vivaldi crashes on nearly every page
I was able to rule out browser's fault due to testing on Ubuntu the same versions (portable, v3.7) of Vivaldi and sites. I'm running BionicPup64 8.0 on a VM entry. I tried turning off hardware acceleration and nothing changed. I started Vivaldi in console and I got this error: root# /opt/vivaldi ...

Re: Vivaldi browser as a replacement for Pale Moon.
LateAdopter I started using Vivaldi when version 3.x started as I wasn't a fan of the slowness and clunky nature before then, that was on WinBloats. I've never had too many bugs and I don't remember a page ever crashing which is incredible. I forgot about that hardware decoding thing, I've been in ...

Re: Vivaldi browser as a replacement for Pale Moon.
mikeslr Thanks for that interesting info. I think I would've spent a lot of time tinkering with puppy when I was a young pup since I liked discovering how it all worked but back in the day you couldn't recover from some real messes made like you can easily now. I probably will in the future anyways ...

Re: Vivaldi browser as a replacement for Pale Moon.
I've been trying to get Vivaldi working on BionicPup64 for quite some time but it will crash on almost every site especially heavy ones no matter what version I use (fresh install). I tried the portable, latest, and then a 3.7 version which works fine on Ubuntu where I tested the same sites and ...

Re: Bionicpup64 8.0 doesn't mount USB Drive
Have you run Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup update? Saved and rebooted, so new changes are now being used? What format is the USB drive partition? Does Pmount see it? When you plug the USB in. Does a drive icon come up on the desktop? Puppy Event Manager Activate tab. Both options selected? Rox Icons ...

Re: Bionicpup64 8.0 doesn't mount USB Drive
Probably unrelated, but I've noticed a similar kind of issue in Bionic64. I always use pWidgets on the desktop, and in Bionic64 I've got the "Space_drives" widget running, amongst others. Despite that sdb2 is auto-mounted at boot, pWidgets drive-space widget stubbornly reports it as unmounted ...

Bionicpup64 8.0 doesn't mount USB Drive
Yes another question, I don't think this should be a problem but somehow it is - the OS doesn't mount a perfectly working usb drive in a working usb port which I tested on Ubuntu. I'm still running Bionic on a VM and I of course allowed USB passthrough with the correct USB stick . I then used ...

Re: How to update software/Vivaldi in puppy linux

Re: How to update software in puppy linux
I strongly agree with the mantra that if it isn't broken then don't fix it (I rarely update and also why the Puppy philosophy matches mine), however with my current version of Vivaldi installed I chose a bad time and got a "dud" that is crashing pages too much. The absence of an update option isn't ...

How to update software/Vivaldi in Puppy Linux?
I was shocked that a web search yielded no results and I was equally surprised to not find a way with the PPM or other tools within BionicPup 8. Re: Can't install Vivaldi on BionicPup64 8 [Solved]

Re: Can't install Vivaldi on BionicPup64 8
Just for kicks I thought I'd try using the PPM to put Vivaldi 2.3 on just to see what happens and now that is giving me a lack of space error showing I only have 5 MB of space left  I actually have 18.4 GB left on this VM entry. I will guess that Bionicpup is a frugal install and you are using ...

Can't install Vivaldi on BionicPup64 8 [Solved]
I tried installing using the QuickPet which strangely only just directs to the main site (that's useless), so I installed the .deb file and there is nowhere to properly open the app and I'm not sure its even installed properly. After trying various things out to no avail, I then tried the portable ...

Re: BionicPup64 8 doesn't load save files in Qemu-KVM
It does load the latest save fine that I read in the startup output. I'm not able to choose the save though. If there is only one save, the boot process just uses it. Nothing to select. I am not really sure you have more than one save. ... Puppy Linux has no save session ability. I have 3 saves now ...

Re: BionicPup64 8 doesn't load save files in Qemu-KVM
I tested some and I may have mis-understood what the save files are actually for as it was my impression that it saves the RAM to the file so your "session" would also be saved with all windows that were open to be reopened in a save state. It does load the latest save fine that I read in the ...

Re: BionicPup64 8 doesn't load save files in Qemu-KVM
Do you see an option for "Advanced Menu" on the boot menu? In the advanced menu is a RAM only boot. Can you copy and paste here the menu.lst boot stanza you are using? I think the problem lays in the boot stanza in the menu.lst or grub2 configuration. The system is being told not to load and or ...

Not sure what you see when you boot Bionicpup64 8.0. If you see a boot menu with options to boot Bionicpup. Make sure to select the normal boot ("Start bionicpup64 8.0"), which should be the first boot menu entry. Do not use the entry that is ram only. ("Start bionicpup64 8.0 - RAM only") That ...

I tried it out after seeing a video with it installed and really liking what I saw and after getting around I was blown away, I love this little guy!
