Re: Friendly-Bionic32 v1.1

wizard Thanks for V1.1 Have downloaded it. Will get it installed onto USB stick when I have a bit more time. Then the journey begins. You say : Minor changes: -change HTML viewer=palemoon -add touchpad help -fix Firefox no audio issue But significant IMO. Will let you know how things go later. Will...

Re: Is there an easy way to transfer files from PC A to PC B on the same network?

williwaw Thank you mikewalsh for being so succinct. Sorry @williwaw, using what is known as a colloquialism, perhaps this helps: Being in a difficult or restrictive situation; being hampered, constrained, or prevented from free movement or action. To be "in a bind" means to be in a proble...

Re: Is there an easy way to transfer files from PC A to PC B on the same network?

mikewalsh Good, some progression. Yes my Puppy laptop is connected to the internet by Ethernet cable. Writing from it now. My Win XP is not connected to the internet, and I wouldn't. That why I didn't want to go the way of any internet answer. Thought about Bluetooth for 1 second, that's a no then....

Re: Is there an easy way to transfer files from PC A to PC B on the same network?

Thank you williwaw , mikewalsh and Jasper Ok here we go. Both laptops are stand alone, i.e. no LAN, so this would have to be set up (I don't know how, will have to research). williwaw If I back up both machines to an external HD and access files as you need them? then I am basically in the same posi...

Is there an easy way to transfer files from PC A to PC B on the same network?

Hello All Has anyone managed to directly transfer files from Laptop A (Puppy only, on HDD) to Laptop B (Win XP only, on HDD). If yes, how was it done? If yes, what is the easiest, most simple way? Can it be done without going through the internet? The only way I have managed thus far is via a USB st...

Re: What is 'usrmerge'

ozsouth the bin & lib in your example are under the /usr folder, so that is fine for usrmerge. What is not fine for usrmerge, is if they are in the main primary folder ( / ) This is what is in the ( / ) Screenshot.png . I see bin lib. and sbin. Knowledge and experience is not on my side.

Re: What is 'usrmerge'

TerryH Thanks for your reply. In usrmerge the directories /bin, /lib, lib64, /sbin and also /usr/lib64 and /usr/sbin are symlinks to /usr/bin and /usr/lib. so a directory that would in a non-usrmerge that would exist in /lib, i.e /lib/firmware is in /usr/lib, the entry which is in /lib is a symlink...

What is 'usrmerge'?

What is usrmerge?

What is different from non-usrmerge?

@peebee's NoblePup32

This is a USRMERGE build so only usrmerge compatible .sfs can be installed.

How can you tell if an .sfs is usrmerge or not?

Is it better to use a usrmerge OS?

Thanks.

Re: Seamonkey Browser (latest version download and install)

@Jasper

Would your Seamonkey-2.53.18.2.en-GB PET be 32bit or 64bit version

I'm guessing 64bit as @bigpup says:

Navigate to where you downloaded the file: seamonkey-2.53.18.2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

Asking so I am sure

Thanks

Yes you could change it because you can.

Then all those that have been using F96-CE_4 'as is' have to remember that it is not 'as is' any more.

Let sleeping dogs sleep I say.

Look forward to F96-CE_5
