Re: how do i update all packages?

For me, (Windows) security update is a sign of insecurity. Puppy's update-free system is seal of security.
Just update your mindset, brother. Not your Puppy.

Re: how do i update all packages

Updating (changing/adding to the current ecosystem) is a risky business. i.e. apps called "A", "B", "C", "D", & "E" have been living and working in perfect harmony. Then, you add a new app in town called "F" into the mix ... Then, A stops working or C starts getting unstable, etc etc. "If you want ...

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Rufus 3.1.4 ran fine for me. I'll try frugalpup installer and see if that works because for me Rufus is the only solution that really works! What is Rufus doing right that other Linux options like etcher don't? AFAIR I couldn't flash easyOS.img with Rufus 3.14. Rufus has more features and options ...

Get out of the idea you need to constantly update!!!

Update is actually Winxiety & Winsanity propaganda.
With Puppy, we must renew our mindset!

Re: Use Rufus!

If you have windows 7 or higher, Rufus will burn the fossapup iso properly to USB. Everything looks normal now and I can create a save folder to sda4. I would not recommend putting fossapup on a ventoy USB. For now this is a great solution. Etcher on Linux did not work for me. Fossapup would not ...

Re: Windows 11 is Here (Almost)

Windows is just Microsoft's "pawn".
It "sacrifices this" in order to "secure that".
It "sells this" in order to "buy that".
It "distracts", "diverts", and "deceives".
That's my "prophesy".

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Puppy bootable USB drive contains files like *.sfs, *.adrv, *.fdrv, etc.

Ventoy-created USB drive contains files like puppy.iso, easyos.img, mx.iso, mint.iso, manjaro.iso, etc.

Does it make sense?

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Apps like Rufus and Ventoy clearly work differently for different purposes 1. Rufus extracts "one" ISO/Img format into lotsa files, then loads them into a USB media and makes it bootable 2. Ventoy collects "multiple" ISOs/Imgs (Puppy, MX, Mint, etc) in a USB media, makes the USB bootable, and ...

I have never had this issue with xenialpup, tahrpup, or bionicpup. When I burn the fossapup iso to a usb stick using dd or etcher as soon as I boot up I get a menu.lst error. I have seen other posts where users are experiencing the same thing. Is there not an iso I can download that will work on my ...

Re: Can puppy save my new computer? How?

If I were you, I'd get another physical media (SSD or HDD) for Puppy Linux as the operating system and apps, then leave the Kubuntu's media as the data storage.
Why do you want to share the same bed with a "sick" person?
That's just my opinion btw.

Some "Secure Boot" aware ISO booting shows "Secure Boot disabled" on some computers.
As for me Secure boot is Microsoft Windows testing the "monopoly waters"... (it's win-win conspiracy for some countries though)

Re: Is a USB desktop practical anymore?

Delphonso, Newer computers have an option called "Secure Boot" in the BIOS. For me, it spells "Windows Boot" and means that no other OS can boot the computer but Windows. So, if you wish to boot from a USB media (Puppy Linux inside), you must... 1. Turn off Secure Boot from the BIOS 2. Enter some ...
