Undervolting pet
Made a PET, for an undervolting tool for intel CPUs since Haswell, from https://github.com/georgewhewell/undervolt Or, if you prefer to compile it yourself (assuming python 3 is installed without pip, such as in Fossapup64): pkg get python3-pip python3 -m pip install undervolt Note that this is not ...

Re: Running android apps on puppy natively
I think I'm onto the cause for this not to be working in Puppy, seems to be a kernel issue after all, reported at https://github.com/anbox/anbox-modules/pull/9 Though apparently fixed https://github.com/anbox/anbox/issues/885 , I have exactly the same errors, so the interaction of ashmem with the ...

Running android apps on puppy natively
I have been able to run android apps on fossapup64, using anbox (natively, ie, not using an ARM emulator) - which runs android in a container It was quite challenging, but it's working. I will outline my summarized steps and make a guide, if someone else is interested in running this too: [btw ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
Seems there is no solution by using the audio, since a process locks down in ALSA until it sends a message to release it, so it's down to the programming in the player. For instance, manually pausing a video on youtube does not unlock it, but watching until the end does. Anyway, another surrogate ...

Re: Problem with Abiword and "remove builtin packages".
After all, it was there in the original iso, just not in the puppy_fossapup64_9.5.sfs, but rather in the adrv_fossapup64_9.5.sfs This also explains the mystery regarding the -norm and -sml in other files, like for example the puppypin file for the desktop icons which I had an issue with a couple of ...

How to use pequalizer in Fossapup64
For me, as an avid trance listener, pequalizer is an essential tool (a system-wide equalizer) It can be obtained here https://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pet_packages-tahr/ However, it wasn't working in Fossapup64. Took me a while, but I'm glad I figured out the problem, so just wanted to share ...

Re: Problem with Abiword and "remove builtin packages".
It was a good idea, I just tried it, but the original iso also only has a builtin_files-sml. In it, there is also no abiword And I just remembered that when I loaded the original pristine fossapup64, the builtin_files folder was there (must have been created) and thus the script opened with no ...

Re: Problem with Abiword and "remove builtin packages".
The same happened to me after remastering. In fossapup64, /root/.packages contains a folder called builtin_files-sml. Before remastering, there was a folder called builtin_files, it disappeared when I remastered (must be a new thing the remastering script is not ready for). This builtin_files folder ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
I've successfully customized HerrBert script (I think), so that the system will suspend after x minutes of mouse inactivity IF an application window is not running full-screen, for instance palemoon playing a dailymotion video [I've used this reference https://askubuntu.com/questions/30147/command ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
Thanks HerrBert, the script works :thumbup2: I launched MPV and then ran the script (setting up for 5 seconds) - did not trigger the event until I closed MPV, which is great. I don't know programming but through trial and error can sometimes manage to make successful edits - found on the web a few ...

Interesting, and thank you. This one is out of my league, but will do some research and see if I can manage to play with it

Re: MS-Teams on FossaPup64
A previous version required editing of a file in usr/bin, to allow for a mix of root + spot permissions (would work well afterwards). The updated version is a lot simpler. Available at https://teams.microsoft.com/uswe-01/downloads Install the .deb file. All that is required is, on terminal: root ...

Re: A few minor issues after remastering Fossapup
Just a small update - I've remastered from scratch this time (after using the above tips and other necessary changes). Both methods, the one outlined by catdude (which I have always used) and the new NicOS tool, have worked flawlessly. Some files that somehow were missing on my prior remaster on ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
Not sure I quite understand but I did have a look at that link you provided. Are you sure you are not talking just about the blanking of the screen (this works independently from suspend/shutdown)? The latter you can toggle on and off with Screensaver Control in the menu. It will depend whether ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
TY - I meant preventing the event manager from triggering when a video is playing, automatically. Similar to caffeine for gnome/ubuntu (I think) https://www.atechtown.com/caffeine-for-ubuntu/ Like the event manager triggering a command (suspend in this case) after x minutes of mouse inactivity IF a ...

Re: Suspend to Ram after x minutes of mouse inactivity
I had been looking for a way to do this, thanks for the tweak.
An added challenge is now finding a way to avoid the event manager from triggering when one is watching a video (and not moving the mouse in that time)

Re: A few minor issues after remastering Fossapup
amethyst Your tool is great, thanks for sharing it  . It sorted my alsa issue and pointed me in the right direction. As I first used it to remaster a remaster, it perpetuated some errors, I think nothing to do with your tool. Did not know about that Save2SFS function, definitely going to ...

Re: A few tips on remastering after minor issues?
Amazing, thanks wizard! Was curious and went to Bionic and looks like this puppypin-norm file is a new thing, which explains the issue. In the meantime, have found out a way to sort my sound card issue in the previous remaster. Running the alsa wizard creates a asound.conf file. All it needed was ...

Re: A few tips on remastering after minor issues?
Thanks rockedge :thumbup2: Great tool by nic007. And a lot easier too. It has sorted the retrovol issue. Unfortunately not for the other issues. I've remastered it based on my previous remaster, so it could be perpetuating some errors, may have to try it from scratch. It has also pointed me to where ...

A few minor issues after remastering Fossapup
Greetings, and thanks for everyone's efforts in creating yet another great puppy linux distro  I've been using puppy since tahr. I've just created a remaster of fossapup64, after a long period of bionicpup. The only way I use puppy is without a save file, that is, always just load it to RAM ...
