Re: chainload grub4dos from grub2 to boot cdrom/dvr?

I believe this should solve your problem: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1668939
What it does is keep grub2, places grub4dos and then creates a menu entry to boot grub4dos.

Re: booting find /menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst /grub/menu.lst

The file manager is what gives a display to list files and folders. Think of Windows 'File Explorer'. For Puppy-Linux there is a icon named 'file' that will open it up. It's actual name is ROX-Filer

Pardon me, but I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. Do you want puppylinux to work on any device? Or do you want to be able to change mac addresses or something?

Re: How to Connect to Your Android Phone or Tablet

You may also use adb, the android debugging bridge. Although it does not allow a 'typical' setup as in that the android device is the storage (secondary) and that the one dictating stuff is your computer. You will need to use adb push and adb pull as well as get the connection properly setup (you ma...

The best (and easily the most difficult) choice is to set it up YOURSELF... this enables maximum control and allows you to configure to your desire. You could also just encrypt the contents and have the recipient unencrypt it themselves.. if there is a method of secure transmission or agreement befo...

You go to the Useful tab, and select devx. It should provide a list of addresses to download from. Then use sfs-load and load in the devx if it doesn't load itself for you.

You can opt to symlink the profile outside the savefile. Preferably to /mnt/home if you want to keep portability (if its a usb and also to not have to mount the partition each time)

Re: Problems turning a thin client into a usable computer with Puppy

To answer the question: What is 'mount' and 'unmount'? It means to place a filesystem (in a virtual representation) at a directory. If I create a FAT32 partition and it has a file named 'foo', which I then mount to /mnt/sdb1. Upon looking in there, I will see the file 'foo'. To unmount means to deta...

You can't write /mnt/etc. It will interpret the partition as /. That means /mnt/sdf1 of that partition, not from the / that you would see (in ROX-Filer or terminal). Waiting on your reply to Clarity though, something is amiss since its not giving a partition choice.

Some puppies use pup_a but pup_ro2 is used by all puppies. It's merely a matter of consistency so its easier to figure where the squashfiles are mounted at.

Re: How to use hplip3.19.6.run in Xenial64?

Kernel sources are gratefully not required to build HP's printing utilities and drivers. However it can be absurdly slow to run the .run from experience (I suspect it uses python). And devx is certainly required, alongside some additional packages not covered by devx. HPLIP.run will tell you if so, ...

Re: How to install Fossapup on sda3 (ext4 partition) dual install with Mint

I'm not precisely certain but you could manually modify the boot entries and copy it to a backup. That way when Mint updates you can recover it. You should preferably copy the syntax. If you don't know how to write it upload snippet of it and we can return you the snippet to paste in.

Should be in grub.cfg or menu.lst. They'll contain the aforementioned line which you should preferably change to your boot device, so that it doesn't simply ignore your device. If you want it to write (no temporary staging in RAM) then set it to atahd or usbhd. For the opposite ataflash/usbflash wil...

Eh regarding 'live cd' mode even if you don't have a CD, as in drive, or disk it will still treat as if you're in live cd mode. Change the pmedia=cd to pmedia=atahd

You could use pfind and search through /usr and /opt for it. Most likely it is not on the PATH, which determines at runtime/invocation where to search for an executable/script.

The size of the Savefile is negative??? I don't think you selected the size right at all. You are also saving to the wrong partition, when you are given a choice, select the ext4 partition, NOT the iso9660 which is unwritable. (Yes, there are discs that can be, but iso9660 does not allow this) (Also...

Yes I have. I have updated, I have a savefile, and no, run-as-spot does not work, as /bin/ash is being denied. On a further note kernels being used are not an issue, as my sister's puppy uses the same unoriginal kernel that I use.
