JWM How to open windows centered and assign workspace?

I have two questions. I'm using fossapup and can't figure out how when I open something like an app or window, it automatically centers on the screen. I tried this, it didn't work. Add this line to ~.jwmrc below $HOME/.jwm/preferences <Include>$HOME/.jwm/group</Include> 2. Create an empty file ...

Re: How to automount Samba shares in Fossapup?

So sorry for the long delay!! Can you repost that script and if possible using yassm to automout shares on reboot. Thanks and sorry again for the delay in responding!!! I think your yassm post had something to do with adding links of the samba shares to a folder in my root directory. Something along ...

samba simple management still off after reboot

I'm running Fossapup and have done the quickpet updates. These updates are supposed to fix samba simple management (SSM) not starting after a fossapup reboot. I still have to manually turn on SSM after a reboot. Are there any other ways to have samba active after a restart, and any other options ...

Re: live-usb-maker-qt from the AntiX linux community

Does this allow fossapup to boot properly? I had to use Rufus in windows 10 to get fossapup to boot from a USB flash drive.

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Here are two screenshots of my Rufus formatted USB stick. Could I use these images to create another usb stick in puppy?

I tried the frugalpup installer mentioned in a post above. Didn't work. The usb stick would not boot. I created a new partition table ext4.

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Rufus 3.1.4 ran fine for me. I'll try frugalpup installer and see if that works because for me Rufus is the only solution that really works! What is Rufus doing right that other Linux options like etcher don't?

Re: Audacity missing shared libraries

Now how the heck did I forget to do a quickpet update? It's the first thing I do after creating a new save folder. Thanks for the reminder!!😀

Works now!

Audacity missing shared libraries

I have never come across this before. I'm using the latest Fossapup. I updated the puppy package manager as well. I tried this booting into RAM as well as booting into my save folder. This is the error I get: Packages succesfully Installed or Downloaded audacity_2.3.3 audacity-data_2.3.3 libflac ...

Use Rufus!

If you have windows 7 or higher, Rufus will burn the fossapup iso properly to USB. Everything looks normal now and I can create a save folder to sda4. I would not recommend putting fossapup on a ventoy USB. For now this is a great solution. Etcher on Linux did not work for me. Fossapup would not ...

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

I don't use Windows so Rufus is out. I'm not sure what is going on with Ventoy. Maybe that's just the way it is. I'm unable to create a save file if I boot from a Ventoy stick.

I'll try your other two options. SG2D, ISObooter. Are they in the puppy package manager or other repos?

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

The ventoy solution works great!!

Now I have to figure out how to create my save folder on /mnt/sda4. What I want to do is boot from the ventoy usb stick and boot into my save folder on sda4. Is that possible?

When I reboot I don't see my save folder in sda4. What am I doing wrong?

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

The only way I was able to get fossapup to boot properly and it's pretty simple to do is create a Ventoy usb and then make sure the fossapup iso is on it. When I boot up it boots into fossapup. I wonder why it works this way? Might there be boot code that I can use in menu.lst or something related?

How to create a Fossapup Save folder at a specific location?

In bionic pup when I boot in RAM and am prompted to create a savefile/folder, I can save it wherever I want to. In Fossapup it seems the only place I can save it is the drive that fossapup is on. In my case, my usb stick. Is it possible to save elseshere like I can with xenialpup and bionicpup?

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

I'm not doing a frugal install to a ventoy stick. I just have the fossapup, bionicpup, xenial pup is as well as other Linux distros as a matter of convenience for installing distros. I have no issues burning fossapup to its own usb stick. My issue is when I startup from the fossapup usb stick I ...

Re: fossapup bios startup issue

Great reply!! It's funny that fossapup boots fine if I have it installed on a ventoy USB stick. I guess I can still use bionicpup even though I think it is not supported by Ubuntu anymore? The error that shows up on startup looks like it is looking for the menu.lst file. Basically all I want to do ...

I have never had this issue with xenialpup, tahrpup, or bionicpup. When I burn the fossapup iso to a usb stick using dd or etcher as soon as I boot up I get a menu.lst error. How to automount Samba shares in Fossapup?

I am using Fossapup 9.5. I would like my samba shares to automount and require me to enter my passwords as well. How do I do this?

At the moment I have to go to YASSAM samba share search every time I boot into fossapup.
