Re: Remaster your running BookwormPUP EASILY

Clarity The remaster script looks for any bootloader files (like isolinux.bin for example) in the building folder if you selected to make an ISO. If it finds it it will make the ISO anyway it seems (also, if it does not find a bootloader, no iso will be created even if you selected yes). So what, j...

What the hell is nvme..,.? Anyways - try the builtin remaster script of the specific version of the distribution you are using and use that if it works for you.

Re: nicOS-Utility-Suite

So what has changed in Fossa96CE that we have all these error reports now? Do you have the same issues when running the builtin remaster script of Fossa96CE (I don't know if the builtin remaster script gets updated every time there is a new Puppy release)? My remaster scripts are basically based on ...

@rockedge

made some installs of updated PET packages

Can your issues be related to the changes in the package manager? I have had problems with pets uninstalling themselves in Fossa96CE.viewtopic.php?p=114606#p114606.

Re: nicOS-Utility-Suite

Yes the remasters were working though sometimes some weird results. That's what makes it odd. It was working nice and safely mostly with predictable results, then this complete very specific deletion occurred. EXTREMELY worrisome that it destroyed 10 frugal installs all by it's self without any app...

Re: nicOS-Utility-Suite

One question is the OS being remastered is instance1 which is all just symlinks to the actual system in instance0 !! Do you think that the symlinks are part of the cause?

Didn't your previous 10 remasters work as mentioned?

Re: nicOS-Utility-Suite

@amethyst Oddest thing happened! While using the utilities to remaster the base SFS on a "instance" of F96-CE created using @wiak's wd_multi script, the utility script managed to delete the entire /mnt/sdc1/TestPup directory containing 10 frugally installed instances of F96-CE_5-alpha3 . ...

Re: How to determine changes made to saved file or folder?

In pupmode 12, the changes are constantly updated and saved automatically. In this mode there is only /initrd/pup_rw for the saving. In pupmode 13 the changes are either made in specifically chosen time intervals or when the user chooses to do so. In this mode there are /initrd/pup_ro1 which is the...

Thanks @geo_c That really helped me fully understand what you mean. I didn't fully appreciate/understand about the Pupsave Backup using Bookworm Pup64 and how and why use it. I followed exactly what you mentioned for how to do this. Now I realize this better and how that would be a good way to comp...

I just want a better or improved version of Linux that will allow me to use the @mikewalsh portable apps. Fossa96CE is newer and an improved version however there is no guarantee that mikewalsh's portables (or app images) will work for all Puppys but your chances are better when running a newer Pup...

Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build

The pequalizer pet works for Fossa95 and this Puppy, didn't check anything else. I used the pet I posted for Fossa95. The "calibration" of the slider values changed (I think it has to do with a newer version of ALSA equalizer). You can test the pequalizer in your Puppy (which you have bui...

Re: Is Thorium the fastest Browser in planet Earth?

Thorium is based on an older version of Chromium. In my experience older versions of Chromium are quite a bit faster (on older machines at least) than the newer ones. I use the latest Brave (Chromium based) with Fossa9.6 and Chromium version 90 (older) with Jammy. The older version is very fast.

He did mention in the video that Thorium was a fork of Chromium but never compared it to Chromium...

I'm more interested in your personal experience as Puppy Linux user. Is it faster and better than the official Chromium browser for in...
