Re: How to create a bootable SD card using Fossapup?

There are no other drives connected (my signature states booting via usb memory stick but that is not the case with the laptop with the SD card in it's slot). There is one usb socket with a wireless mouse 'dongle' in it. I once tried with an empty usb memory stick in the spare usb socket to see if ...

Re: How to create a bootable SD card using Fossapup?

Sorry to resurrect this now long thread but while on holiday last week and reading a post at another website about the problem booting to 'linux' using an SD card in an Acer laptop (but not the model I have) I wondered what would happen if I created a bootable SD card with a 'legacy' boot type in ...

Re: How to store wifi router password

Thanks bigpup.
It's now working ok. I used Barrys Simple network connection to set it up but may have forgotten to select 'set as default'. All good now.
My only excuse for missing that is this damned 10" screen and my ageing eyes.

How to auto-connect Fossapup to wifi on boot? (Solved)

I have noticed that since using my laptop connected to internet via wifi EVERY TIME I boot to Fossapup I am not connected automatically to the internet and have to select 'connect' and then enter the router's password which is annoying. Is there a method to set up to retain this data so that ...

Re: How to expand personal storage free space?

Thanks for the tip. Yes I was able to resize via Utilties 'menu'. Strange that when I positioned the mouse pointer over the flashing red container shaped flashing icon it displayed 'right mouse click to resize' which did not allow e to do this. Please let me know about not using a savefile? Is this ...

Re: How to expand personal storage free space?

Thanks for your quick reply however how do I increase the size of the savefile? Whenever I start fossapup that 'icon' always is displaying in red and flashing indicating that I need to do something about it. Although after a short time it disappears. Maybe I just need to clean it up (remove ...

How to expand personal storage free space?

When I first set up using fossapup I expanded my 'personal storage free space' without any probem but now it seems I did not create enough free space. When I move my mouse over the 'icon' (for personal free space at bottom right on pinboard) it dsplays 'right click for menu'. When I do that I see ...

Thanks again bigpup.
I have now added more to my 'notes' document.
And started to look for buried bones around here and uncovered more that I can 'chew' at present especially at -
the Instructional HOW-TO Section > Install forum.

Re: How to install apps not in Quickpet or Install?

Thanks again for your info. Findnrun looks interesting. Last night I decided, just for interest sake, to download the iso and create a bootable DVD for the latest version of UBUNTU. Not sure I like it. Doesn't seem as 'user friendly' as fossapup. I must say that the reason I decided to try fossapup ...

Re: How to install apps not in Quickpet or Install?

Thanks Great response and thanks for the link which is great. Thanks for the advice on Stacer. I found many apps in a YouTube video and of course they were for Linux and so probably not always 'workable' in puppy. That was another reason for the post. When I first started using fossapup I was ...

Why would they be ...

Re: How to create a bootable SD card using Fossapup?

I can use a SD card reader plugged into a usb port and boot ok. no surprise, the laptop sees the usb port as a bootable device. This does not prove or disprove the viability of a SD card as a bootable device. What needs to be seen is the card slot as a bootable interface. The slot itself may not be ...

I had hoped that creating the bootable SD card selecting UEFI boot mode would ...

Re: How to create a bootable SD card using Fossapup?

I didn't know that. I (incorrectly) assumed that because a friend of mine with an older laptop can boot from SD that I could as well. Having said that if I set the boot 'mode' to Legacy I CAN boot from the SD card so I am now assuming that if I create a bootable SD card with UEFI it will boot the ...
