I'm trying to work out the 'best' way to specify that I want a certain GRUB (v2.03) menu entry to look for its savefile in a specific location... and while I have an answer, it's often suggested as not being the' best' or 'most reliable' way...

Many Win7 machines had early UEFI implementations that were pre-SecureBoot and came from the factory in legacy mode. Switching them now to UEFI can be an adventure. They will often make their own decisions on how to boot depending on what they see on your drives.

I haven't done too much with the 'file server' functions per se just yet... other than seeing yes, I can get to the drives on the Mini PC remotely from Windoze/Puppy/Android/other Linuxes all Ok when it's booted under Windoze or F96-CE ...

Just a quick non-update...
Everything is working as expected/usual.
I DID try the '-D nl80211' switch.. and have it in the 'test script' now... but things returned to stable/normal before I could properly test the effects of it... so we'll see what happens the next time the connections go haywire.

Here is a suggestion. Take a spare computer and connect it to the router by ethernet. Use some software to turn the computer's wifi adapter into an access point. Connect other computers to it and check the stability.

My first thought would be to scrap the (hdx,gpty) notation and use uuids. That avoids problems with the order in which the drives are enumerated. For example:
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root aaa-bbb-ccc
linux /vmlinuz ....
Good thought... and works as suggested when the boot order is ...

So, ultimately, it seems Hiawatha does not work 'out of the box' in F96-CE_4, unlike some other Puppy variants ... but no matter, we can establish a working configuration that isn't horrendous to set-up.
