Re: Slow access times....

My thoughts on the matter are NOT that we were singled out on purpose, more that we were simply latched-onto purely at random.......just to see what would come of it. I don't really sense any malicious intent aimed specifically at this community; I just can't see a small, 'niche' discussion forum b...

Re: can localsend be ported to puppy?

Actually I am not using the appimage.....but extracted the tarball and put that stuff into ~/my-applications and launched it from there by clicking on the binary.

@fredx181 It's much better for me at the moment! I have also turned off the Apache URL rewrite engine and stopped routing requests for http://murga-linux.com to the oldforum for the time being

I have the appimage working on F96-CE_4. It needs a package installed with the PPM -> libayatana-appindicator3-1_0.5.4-2

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

I have communicated with radky on the matter of BW64 - BW32 being the DW submission and he's okay with it BUT..... If the Puppy community decides BW64 and BW32 are appropriate for Distrowatch, that's OK with me though my availability for daily support of BW64 would be quite limited. If the Puppy com...

Re: HowTo use sfs and changes folder with a full Linux install

t does mean BookwormPup is using overlayfs instead of aufs - right?

Yes. Now on some of the most recent Puppy variants it is possible to indicate using aufs or overlay specified on the kernel command line in the boot stanza's.

It's the Chinese! This is coming from Hong Kong. Two IP's which I have now banned completely have been hammering hundreds of thousands of hits on our forum, are the culprits (apparently) and origin. Re: BookwormPup: how to prevent suspend when laptop lid closed? (Solved)

However in 64bit Puppies like @radky 's BW64 or @rockedge 's F96-CE this code fails. The condition [ "$DISTRO_TARGETARCH" = "x86" ] is never true because in those distros the value of DISTRO_TARGETARCH is "x86_64" I was not aware that it does not work in F96-CE_4 . I d...

Re: Portable Webserver OS For Small Intranets

why not use the Hiawatha web server already built into Puppy Linux? Hiawatha is one of the securest and fastest web servers available. It scales very well from being a very small web server to a very large web server with heavy loads. To start and stop Hiawatha web server, in a terminal: hiawatha ki...

Re: KLV-Airedale-sr12 with the Void Linux Kernel 6.8.4_1

So my lesson learned for on Void: best to upgrade all packages before installing a single package. Yes! I have experienced this as well. Couldn't install a package once, the system wouldn't do it until I performed a xbps-install -Suy complaining of broken dependencies. I also have now the pipewire ...

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!

Submit BW64 with the proper paperwork and say I said it's okay if anyone asks. If that is no good and VanillaDpup can't be it let's throw F96-CE_4 / Fossapup64-9.6 on the list. And somehow make a mention that there are 5000 other versions plus similar but different distro's closely related in philos...

Re: Using APT to see what is upgradeable

dimkr I still had to use the PPM even though apt is now available. Didn't want to but apt wouldn't install a PHP module package from the Ubuntu Focal Fossa repo correctly or at all. The PPM did in about a second. This is a special case and probably doesn't indicate much other than there are some bu...

Best thing to do right now is begin to design the pages for puppylinux.com. Writing the actual content is the key.
