I would say yes run those lines and check /etc/profile and adjust the PATH to add the location of the ActiveState python you're working with to the environment variable

Re: python-pip install not working Fossapup64 9.5?
I think the Devx supplies components for Python 2.7. I've been using ActiveState's Python 3.8 in Fossa. I just have less problems so the it's worth the slightly more overhead.
The Devx should have enough Python 2.7 to get started.

Re: Installing Python 3 on Quirky7 lite
I only have really outdated versions packaged up as a complete system with Zoneminder. I should make a newer version. I'll check whether to use Bionic or Fossa.

Re: python-pip installs but command line pip not found?
you need to install python-pip as well! Then it's:
Code: Select all
pip install <some_module>
and if equipped with both python 2.7 and python 3 it might be:
Code: Select all
pip3 install <some_module>
might need to sort out some symlinks as well

We need to look into the 'plogin' error and I am thinking this is part of the autologin process.

Might be the best bet to install Apache2, mariaDB (mysql) and PHP7 directly. This will be more like a setup one would encounter commercially.

Run Firefox with run-as-spot and apulse
To run Firefox (or other) with sound as user 'spot'.
This will work:
Code: Select all
root# run-as-spot apulse firefox
So this script should as well:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
run-as-spot apulse firefox

Yes it is! Works fine on BIOS equipped machines. The ISO you pulled is equipped to start on UEFI machines AND also will boot normally on legacy BIOS computers.

Re: dual boot (Windows, Lubuntu, encrypted) : replace Lubuntu by Puppy ?
I do have a DELL laptop that runs Windows 10 as a dual boot option with an entire range of Puppy Linux variants to choose from, that uses MBR and Grub4Dos. Started out from the factory as a Windows 7 machine which happens to run Puppy's and Dog's really well.

Have you worked with the Ermine Free version? I have been doing packaging manually and now I am developing a 32 bit OS (WeeDog32-Void) and I'm looking for package construction methods and tools.
Exodus looks very interesting!
