Re: Azilink: opensoure internet through your phone
Ok, looking at it closer and noticed: DEPRECATION: No tls-client or tls-server option in configuration detected. OpenVPN 2.7 will remove the functionality to run a VPN without TLS. Looks like another big brother knows best one size fits all thing for all situations. Oh joy. Seriously in azilink ...

Re: How to go into developer mode in chromebook with bad keyboard?
@mouldy Think the best thing ever done was figuring out how to permanently disable Windows updates. Used to get paid a lot of money to undo the havoc it caused. wizard Thats what I liked about that windowsxlite.com versions. Re: How to go into developer mode in chromebook with bad keyboard?
The primary market for Chromebooks has always been schools. The last thing that school boards want is a machine that can be pried open by kids and stripped of any removable parts. The more stuff you can solder down the better. What hobbyists may eventually do with the used machines is not a big ...

I installed with ext2 - and new start - then this P1010670.JPG I got Puppy installed and booted with Grub4Dos on ext4. So dont think thats it. That "wee" error was obviously something from long ago thats been corrected. But I did get Grub menu with the "searching for menu1st" listing instead of ...

Re: Puppy Linux on a old Netbook Hasee SD - Card

@mouldy Most of the duet/refind and clover stuff you can download from the web won't work OOTB, you've got to jerk it around first. For your HP, the duer/refind that I posted should be plug and play, the clover/refind one is only for MBR bios. Took the back off my Lenovo 100s-14ibr cloudbook today ...

@mouldy It is possible to fork a branch to your own repo on GitHub while this link is available. Probably not, I have no skills to check and update the apk. Probably best I can do is occasionally post about it and offer info how to use it. Its a tiny app in modern world, still works, just way under ...

Re: Puppy Linux on a old Netbook Hasee SD - Card
I think your problem maybe that you need to create or recreate a fresh mdos partition table on the SDcard using gparted. Create the partition table, then create a ext2 or ext3 partition. Then either copy the files or use the installer. Then guessing you want to use Grub4Dos bootloader installer. I ...

Reading more about the early 14in HP Stream like mine think its 14-ax010ca Anyway the bios doesnt support nvme. I wondered if way to do this with simple soldering iron since several bits that have to be unsoldered. course you have some of that little mesh ribbon stuff that sucks up solder, then doesnt matter so much. @mouldy I can tell you from experience booting from an external usb SATA SSD that its about same speed as the soldered eMMC drive. Hmm, was looking at the various adapter. You know IF somebody really wanted to keep internal wifi plus willing to boot from usb drive. There is a cheap adapter that goes from mpcie to usb. Now this is usb2 so... but anyway if you went this way, you could get a cheap hub like that guy did ...

I will also mention the latest kindle for pc WILL run in both Tiny10 (the older smallest 64bit version) and windowsxlite.com "micro 11". Re: How to Use BookwormPup to Run Amazon Kindle
As I have tried to explain in the wine thread. You can not run the current 2.x versions of "Kindle for PC" in WINE. The last version that will run in WINE is version 1.38 to version 1.40. These still work partially but not all books will load. I have had books complain and want me to upgrade to ...

Re: Using NVME drives on old desktop computers.
This is interesting to me. IMHO, the nvme can make a difference on a marginal computer. The 256GB nvme + adapter that I replaced m.2 wifi card in Dell Chromebook 3120 made all difference. I had converted it with mrchromebox, then thankfully after installing the nvme+adapter, the mrchromebox bios ...

Small update, on BookwormPup64 you will need to install libssl1.1. I just keep a copy around. You may need to look for it in an older version 64bit Debian. Buster? Or older Puppy. The easytether people havent updated anything since like 2018. Its quite a popular app so not sure why. But other than ...

Kindle for PC v1.30 is long time ago and no longer can do current DRM Amazon uses. Kindle for PC v1.38 to v1.40 can run in WINE and can partially work. I have had some books refuse and tell me I need to upgrade. Thus my interest in Waydroid. The current Kindle for PC is v2.34 or something like that ...

Azilink: opensoure internet through your phone
Ok, noticed the Arch Linux wiki page I said explained Azilink at the beginning of my easytether thread , now no longer does. Shame, they had a good recipe. Azilink originated to give tethering capability to early Android phones with no native tethering app. But works on phones where the phone ...

Making old stuff do things that was never intended by original designers. These tricks using the wifi card port would save so ...
