You tried to start from the wrong script. Goto where you unpacked the files and look for a script called "mullvadbrowser".

This allows root usage.

So I finally bit the bullet and decided to update to this latest iteration of Fatdog. I would like to report complete success on a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 @ 4 Gb or RAM. Frugal install on a hard drive. Everything works straight out of the box.
