Re: Announcing firstribit
Hi,
I found your post the other day. I have now tested FirstRibIT with Fedora, Manjaro and Zorin. Everything works very well (as expected).
This method (to run different Linux distros from a Frugal install) deserves much more attention. I have therefore written a simple instruction about ...

SMB2: I don't think that is the problem since Samba works. Watch this screenshot. Just when using PCManFM for the connection.

Re: My very best PuppEX Noble64 version (so far)!
@norgo
Yes, the gvfs package was missing, but unfortunately installing it doesn't help. Not in my latest PuppEX anyway. I did forget about gvfs. Normally it should be enough to make Samba work in PCManFM if also cifs-utils and winbind are installed.

Re: My very best PuppEX Noble64 version (so far)!
Yes "normally" PCManFM can do that, but not in all distros. Something is obviously missing in PuppEX Noble64. And in all other PuppEX versions.
The command I use for Samba connections: smbclient \\\\192.168.0.38\\LINUX -U arne

@norgo,
I mean everything of importance.
Missing icons is not so important. Easy to fix.
Mount with the mount app.
Samba connections via PCManFM is not possible, but you can connect with a terminal command.

Re: PuppEX Slack64 Build 241016 compatible with Slackware 15.0
Ok, thanks, but think I've found a better solution. The fdrv-file in PuppEX Slack64 lacks a lot of firmware. I will "borrow" a fdrv-file from another Puppy system. Hopefully PuppEX Slack64 will run on ALL computers then.
It seems to me that the Woof-CE Builder doesn't generate enough ...

Re: PuppEX Slack64 Build 241016 compatible with Slackware 15.0
@rockedge,
Ok, but how shall we explain that the new PuppEX version runs on some (older) computers and in VirtualBox/Vmware? I mean if something is wrong with the .xinitrc file that should/must make the system unusable on all computers.

Re: Bookworm Build script
The best way to do a frugal install is to do it manually. I.e. just mount the ISO and copy everything in it to a folder on another installed Linux system on your computer. You must use Grub as boot loader. Watch this screenshot: https://puppex.exton.se/puppex-bookworm64-lxqt-grub-frugal ...
