Re: Script file to open Terminal and run command?

Fantastic, HerrBert ! I used your code as is; xterm is just something I came across and don't seem to need for what I wanted. Thanks very much to the both of you. Now I have a "Windscribe" folder in my-applications linked to the main screen that does everything I wanted. Plus, I'll have fun reading ...

Re: Script file to open Terminal and run command?

With the xdialog command, I find I can do all three commands by just separating them inside the parenthesis with ";" Don't know about the way to do it with xterm. Thanks again!

Re: Script file to open Terminal and run command?

Thanks for the xterminal script! It really does what I want also.

And I have the same question as in my last post, if you don't mind: Is there a way to "stack" commands so they all can run in the same window or box?

For example, combine "windscribe connect Seattle". "sleep 10", and "windscribe ...

Re: Script file to open Terminal and run command?

Thank you!

#!/bin/sh
xterm -hold -e windscribe status

works like a charm! ( Was hoping then that something like: xterm -hold -e echo "Finding windscribe status" windscribe status
would let me "title" the window, but it just printed everything after "echo". Hate to beg for more when it's not really ...

Script file to open Terminal and run command?

I have several simple files that I use in main screen shortcuts to point my VPN to various locations. They are very simple and take the following form:

#!/bin/sh
windscribe connect seattle

I would like to make a file to keep in the same place that would then let me check if the command above is ...

Re: ZOOM - What's the current state of play?

Kind of off topic, but...
I'm still using zoomportable64 in fossapup. It seems similar to the Windows zoom except that trying to "share" a video, although it works, has a message at the bottom of the share window saying that pulseaudio must be installed for sound to be shared. Also there are not the ...

Re: It's time to forget g00gle? NEW SEARCH ENGINE.

The full article was interesting. However, "you never know" !

I read the article, but it doesn't say very much about how this search engine is different. I do believe censoring of the internet is a big problem, that the "right" is more censored than the "left", and that Google is one of the main ...

Re: Signal Messenger Desktop 64-bit .sfs

I just installed it in Fossa, but it says that "This version ... has expired." Do you have a newer version? The message also says to go to signal.org/download to get the newest one, but I wouldn't know what to do with it.

Re: Mullvad privacy browser (Firefox ESR fork)

Thanks! Worked like a charm!

I like that it opens so fast, remembers nothing, and you can have multiple instances running at once. Very simple and elegant!

Re: Mullvad privacy browser (Firefox ESR fork)

I've been using the Mullvad browser in fossapup but audio doesn't work. That may be because of how I'm starting it: neither the "start-mullvad-browser.desktop" or the "start-mullvad-browser" links would work for me, so I'm just clicking on "mullvadbrowser". I think I need some special "Puppy magic ...

Thanks! I'll try it.

I made a LUKS tool for that called LotsaLuks. Let me know if there are any problems with it. Read the pdf overview before installing so you will understand the tool and it's risks.

Re: Change save file password?

Oh, yes: I created the password the first time I saved the savefile going through the usual procedure -- location, size, etc.

Change save file password?

I have a LUKS encrypted save file for which I would like to change the password. I have other save files, so it would not be a problem to access the save file externally from "another" Puppy, if that should be needed.

Re: swap file not loading causing (?) saved pups to not boot

Well, it's working now! I had the same thing happen when I booted into Bionic. Then I tried Tahr64, and that worked OK. I went back and tried Fossa again, and it worked.

While in Tahr I looked up and found pupswap.swp to make sure it existed, because I think that was what Fossa had not been finding ...

swap file not loading causing (?) saved pups to not boot

Suddenly my saved pups are refusing to load. I enter the number of a saved puppy, the boot starts but with an error message (in red) that the "swap file" didn't load, and when FossaPup comes up on the screen I'm in a fresh OS with the setup dialog box. Yesterday it was working fine. I've tried two ...

Re: myVPN (a simple VPN Client app)

I'm grateful for myVPN but it seems to me there should be a way to stop using it without bringing down my internet connection, which is what happens to me now (right at the point where myVPN says "Reconnecting to network") on Fossapup64, and causes me to have to connect again.

But I've noticed that ...

Personally, I like Telegram. One reason is that you can have the same login on several devices, unlike WhatsApp or Signal.
