I just wish we knew what we were updating to besides the perennial 'security update' and esoteric release notes.

Brave Running Twice

When I quit Brave a new regular window opens as if there are duplicate execute lines in a script. There are three Exec= lines in the launcher, but under different headings, e.g. [Desktop Entry], [Desktop Action new-window], [Desktop Action new-private-window]. [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Name=Brave ...

Re: Specific older browser onto Bionic/Tahr?

If you find the OS blurry, try disabling anti-aliasing. I appreciate the consistency, but you have given me this advice before on the same subject. I suspect peabee is the only one who can answer this dilemma, but Bionic simply does not render the same as Tahr and Xenial. It's slight but enough to ...

Re: How can we make Ptheme work in every pup?

To change GTK theme you can try switch2 from cli. I don't think there is something similar for JWM ... [EDIT] Pinboard background color is a ROX setting. switch2 is not in Tahr, but I will keep an eye out for it. Bummer about JWM, too bad. I have not tried it, but Ptheme switches globally cli, of c...

It looks like in JWMDesk we can save profiles, jwmrc-personal & -tray2. I have never needed to manually change -personal settings. I change -tray & -theme files regularly. For those who do not use it: Ptheme is a comprehensive desktop configuration changer. It reads like bigpup is stating ea...

How can we make Ptheme work in every pup?

This is Tahr ptheme-0.4.1.pet installed from the old forum. Notice the JWM entries are missing. Wallpaper works. GTK and Icon theme will open the dialog or offer dropdown choice, but will not take affect when applied globally. Window buttons and the other choices do not work at all. Or otherwise, do...

Re: Specific older browser onto Bionic/Tahr?

I am in Bionic atm but for screen clarity I do not recommend it to myself. I thought it might be an issue with gtk, but for some reason Bionic on my laptops seems to share Openbox/LXDE qualities and appear blurry. I am here to look at Ptheme (normal habit of booting a distro for a specific feature)....

Re: What makes lxrandr not hold its settings?

williams2 perhaps versions function differently. It's normal in lxrandr for the app to close after Apply . Save retains the app window. You are correct that it does not read the config you saved, but repeating the config you saved works sometimes after the initial attempt fails (my hack). I would b...

Re: Puppy Event Manager doesn't automount drives

Similar hassles I think of it as a retrograde-advance. Even 32-land is not immune.

Auto-Pmount should at least be a setting.

Though, you seem advanced enough to handle some modest interactivity.

I like the term Creators' Perogative.

Re: Puppy Event Manager doesn't automount drives

It reads like you're writing about handler, the second selection under Desktop Icons/Icon Handler in Puppy Event Manager.

The other idea is to have it mount at boot, which requires having it inserted at boot. The setting is in pmount, but can also be manual if you prefer editing setting text.

Growing understand: it is possible Quickpet always displays on a remaster as part of a 1st-run script, so unless you edit the boot script, you'll get a new Quickpet on the desktop even if you removed it for remaster. I auto-change PuppyPin anyway so that isn't a big deal. The 2nd Pmcputemp still req...

williams2 the issue is inconsistency. Sometimes changing lxrandr settings works by design, sometimes it doesn't. Re: Recognition point in time of G4D partition?

I would intuit the boot media limitation is itself limited to media available in BIOS.

In other words, any bootable media should be able to refer to recognized devices even if SD in this case is not a boot medium in BIOS.

Then if not the case the question is the basic reason why.

Maybe I'll wait for a gnome-based puppy. Here more intermediate, most of the replies you are receiving are experts, but we each have a unique perspective. I can't precisely answer your question but commiserate. Firefox tends to auto-update. Many older versions don't, or do once and stop. Consequentially I have a few 70s-era versions, 66 and 88 for 32-bit Upups. 66 (a stopper) has a bunch of dependencies in Tahr. I would expect the same in Slacko6. For...
