pm66sfs - a pupmode=66 that saves to a .sfs file
Each save is a complete save, so a single ".sfs" file contains all the save data files at the time of the shutdown.
There is no consolidation of multiple ".sfs" files, either during 'init' or via a utility.

I have uploaded 'local-initrd.gz ...

Now works with just a single input file, i.e. it can be used to recreate an sfs with different compression.

Re: NoblePup64 iso to download?
A kernel signed with a MOK won't work,
I've done it with a number of different Puppies.
AFAIK there's no automated mechanism to enroll a MOK that doesn't require user intervention (and root privileges or the UEFI password). Such a mechanism would defeat the security advantage of having Secure ...

Re: NoblePup64 iso to download?
Built to test new FrugalPup-43
Sorry, unfortunately not a complete test.
Yes, 'mk_iso.sh' worked fine, but this Puppy does not contain the grub2.06 binaries from FrugalPup.
This Puppy contains 'usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi-signed/gcdx64.efi.signed' et al..., in it's 'devx' so the 'mk_iso.sh' script ...

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
I saw grub efi files on that folder. Is it signed already and also able to search for grub.cfg file?
The grub efi files are not signed.
I am not aware of any facility to search for a grub.cfg file.
But I tend to litter the sub-directories of the ESP with grub.cfg files like this:

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
We have working scripts to:
Sign binaries, 'grub....efi' or 'vmlinuz'.
Sign the kernel module files in a directory or a ".sfs" file.
Generate, store, and enroll a MOK.
Basically, we can do it.
The question is how we want to manage MOK's?
Options:
1 ...

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
@ozsouth,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Could you please tell me what version of grub2 it is, and where it comes from?
Interesting layout.
In my testing, I have found no evidence of a need to store the vmlinuz and initrd.gz files in the ESP, or even on the same device.

This new version provides extended support for "fiddlers".
The '-zstd' optional parmmeter has now be enhanced with an optional trailing compression level.
If '-zstd19' is specified, mksquashfs is called using '-comp zstd -Xcompression-level 19'.
An '-lzo ...

When FrugalPup is installing grub2 in a "signed" environment, it fails to copy the '/MOK/local.cer' file to the root of the "boot" partition.

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
There is now a FrugalPup that implements this stuff, https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=132128#p132128

And if a MOK partition, containing a private local MOK, is ...

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
If you are looking for the 'sign-file' utility, it's usually in the 'kbuild...sfs'.
If your Puppy doesn't have a 'kbuild...sfs', then look in your 'kernel_sources' as '/usr/src/linux/scripts/sign-file'.

Re: "Secure Boot" for Puppy Linux
And I agree that a MOK solution such as this is unlikely to be attractive to the "masses".
Unfortunately a seamless solution is out of our league.
The likes of Debian get Microsoft to "sign" a shim that contains a debian public key.
Then the grub2 binary can be ...
