Re: How to start bluez daemon?

Please forgive my dumb question, but in some computers you have to enable the bluetooth and wifi adapters with some key or switch. Make sure your bluetooth is enabled.

This are instructions extracted from "Janky BT" in my Bionicpup64 install, perhaps of some help:

First off make sure your ...

I followed some instructions found in this forum to update the certificate, running the command

but I didn't create any new certificates.

I'd try the older bionicpup32-8.0+0-uefi.iso

Re: To Boot or Not To Boot - That Is The Question

My solution, in some of my computers (I don't remember when or why I've started doing this), is to copy all the needed SFS files to the hard drive, even if they exist or are duplicated in the USB drive, and puppy finds them faster and easier. The USB drive, or a CD in some installs, just boots the ...

x509 certificate error

Hello. I'm having a problem in my Tahrpup install, Syncthing app stopped working in this macine, reading the Log file points to a problem with an x509 certificate.

I understand this error is OS related, not related to Syncthing.

This is the error message:

Also, if you need to make a PDF to be filled with data, you need to create a "PDF form" and add fields, they can be text or tick boxes, with different formats.

I had problems with certain combinations of wifi card / OS / ISP provider or wifi modems, usually solved checking the security standards all the devices were using.

Are you able to connect to the same network using that same hardware and another OS?

Is your modem set to use WPA2 ?

Re: Directory compare & backup - suggestions?

Well - my first fail with grsync is that it did not "merge" - it just "copied".

ie: I tried to copy recent "familia" files into old "familia" (on other disk) and it copied the whole source "familia" directory inside the destination "familia" directory.

ie: destination disk now has /familia ...

Re: Hours and hours trying to setup printer

I see you successfully installed the foomatic driver. From there, you should be able to print the CUPS printer test page. If not, check the default options for your printer, delete any other printer you have installed, or delete everything from CUPS and start from scratch installing just this driver.

Re: Hours and hours trying to setup printer

Are you able to print the test page from CUPS?

According to this site, your printer is supported by the foo2zjs free software printer driver:

You probably need to install that driver and use that instead of the hplip driver. It happens ...

Re: How to install a Puppy version in a Toshiba satellite pro 4600? with 512mb

My choice , in the 2 older machinesI have, is Tahrpup32 and Bionicpup32.

To boot from a CD, download the ISO file, and copy the ISO to the CD with the ISO option in your CD burning app, not copying the files . It should boot without issues. If not, I'd burn the CD again.

In slow machines, I burn ...

It seems VENTOY ( https://ventoy.net/en/doc_linux_gui.html) did the trick.

@fernan The BIOSes of some very old machines have trouble with the modern UEFI-compatible Puppy ISOs.

You might try making your USB drive with another tool like Rufus.

I'll give up trying to boot from ...

I understand the kernel swap suggestion is related to the touch pad not working in any of the 4 or 5 puppies I've tried, but that's another topic. I'll check that later.

By now, it seems not very straightforward to boot from a usb drive in this machine. I'll try Rufus as a last try. If it doesn't ...

Re: Can't boot from USB, partition not found

setting "root=(hd0,2)" in grub.cfg .

Nothing wrong in doing this.

That is just another way to identify the drive and partition.

That was the way it was done, before the use of UUID.

UUID is used, because it is specific, and only that partition, can have that identifier. It never changes ...
