Ableton Versions Compatible with PuppyLinux 8.5/9.5: I have been able to make it work with the one I mention at the begining of my Post, Version 10.0.6 without any Extra Efforts. BUT, We need a FIX for WINE x64 in PuppyLinux for Higher Versions as Ableton 11, Could please any of the MODs or Puppy D...

Hello, Wiak! Do not be overwhelmed by temporary misfortune. Never give up! You are doing a great and revolutionary job! what Duprate said. Appreciate your POW and you explain it sensibly for an outsider but it makes me a bit sad on behalf of the overall Puppy family well-being. Your work is clearly...

Re: SparkyBonsai 2.0+

It's probably something hardware specific because of the new kernel or a component of the new installed packets (i.e. locales) behaving differently xz compressed. Please try again with "noswap" and "nomagic" only in boot options -in case of an existing hdd problem- and booting w...

Re: Cheat code to copy changes.dat to RAM

Slight iteration: Firefox and https://getferdi.com/ just need a one time sync sign in, afterwards they're pulling server data into a session. No offline usage hence no need to save cache inside the squash or in savefolder/ or .dat. Thunderbird profile data remains tricky. Will try the AppImage sugge...

You don't need to put it on a hard disk, suppose on a usb is the same think. Sometimes its hard for older machines to handle xz compression but i don't blame it as youre able to boot other xz compressed puppies/dogs. Maybe it's because of the debian kernel. It's still in testing after all (next mon...

Re: SparkyBonsai 2.0+

Welcome bark-woof-fetch and thanx for testing Sparkybonsai. Only had 15 JWM minutes so far and find it exemplary polished yet neutral. Menu structure is logical. Wonder how much more overhead LXQt/LXDE needs to sort of do the same. Great work! The JWM squash file separation: fantastic. I've been no...

Re: Cheat code to copy changes.dat to RAM

1. Make and save all your critical changes you want to restore in every boot (configurations, drivers, extra installed apps etc). 2. Use DebianDog's tool "Create Module from changes", save them in a file, i.e. "03-mychanges.squashfs" and copy it in /live/optional folder. 3. Chec...

Re: Cheat code to copy changes.dat to RAM

I wouldn't trust appimages (yet), i think sfs are more stable. Anyway, it's your choice. The drill is about how to keep the /changes/ for each sfs separated. If both firefox.squashfs and thunderbird.squashfs are loaded f.ex. and write some changes during usage those /changes/ are now inside a third...

Re: Cheat code to copy changes.dat to RAM

Compressing critical changes in squashfs to load to ram on boot-up and save the new ones on exit doesn't work? Didn't think of that, so you convert the .dat to .sfs and boot as any other module? And any changes are contained inside the sessions .dat or ../live/change/ folder? I'll read up on AppIma...

Just listing my user experience using your default Openbox settings for FossaDog and DebianDog.

FYI only, can edit to my own prefs of course but thought you'd might find a user report useful anyway.

bbcode or markdown editor (online or offline) with keyboard shortcuts

Am looking into https://www.geany.org plugins that may work, do let me if you have found something useful elsewhere.

In particular shortcuts to create quotes, list items and inline links.

Off-topic note: https://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki default settings for this is great

Talk: Puppy Linux Deconstructed - JT Pennington (Q5sys, 2014 SouthEast LinuxFest)

Found this 6 years old talk by JT Pennington which really explains clearly how Puppy et.al. works, in particular layered, squashed filesystems. He was a Puppy dev (as Q5sys) not sure if he's still around. Single video camera a bit off distance so try the 720p upload to follow along his projector sli...

Re: Easy grub4dos install with concept entries in menu.lst for BusterDog and Bionicdog

thanks for checking the details Fred, I'll pursue the /home/user1 link,source=config-files/user1 option first and report back. Hope to be able to use it for a multiuser setup.

If it doesn't work out each user gets their own porteus boot menu.lst entry instead with corresponding savefile paths.
