Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build 09-May-2022

Tried the +2, but no joy with the 5.10 kernel on my hardware. Have to use back the 5.4, which is booting fine. No idea what is the culprit.

Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build 25-Apr-2022

I installed Firefox with 'Get Web Browser' from the Internet menu. Sound is working fine here. Only noticed that there is no icon for Firefox in the menu, just the text 'Firefox'. The icons are located in /opt/firefox/browser/chrome/icons/default, but the icon entry in mozilla-firefox.desktop specif...

Please try the 5.4 kernel as now found in +1

On my Dell Latitude E6400 the 5.4 kernel boots fine. The original 5.10 didn't. Just as feedback.

@mdisaster Maybe you can try to use the kernel (vmlinuz) and z-drv from BionicPup32 to boot the JammyPup32. I did that and it booted nicely. The new 5.10 kernel also doesn't play well with my old hardware.

Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build 25-Apr-2022

peebee I tried with using the kernel and z-drv.sfs from BionicPup32 (4.9.163-lxpup-32-pae kernel) and booting into JammyPup32 was comparable to BionicPub32. Didn't have time to test more. So the 1-2 min delay in booting seems to be caused by the kernel. Next try would be the 5.4 kernel from the +1 ...

Re: JammyPup32 (UPupJJ+D-22.04) JammyJellyfish+Debian Woof-CE build 22-Apr-2022

During boot at the very beginning it stops for 1-2 minutes as the message Probing EDD (edd=off...) ...ok. But then eventually it boots and I'm posting this from JammyPup32. Still a bit annoying as I'm used to the super fast boot of BionicPup32, which I use daily. As there is the ok message it seems ...

It's vfat and also recognized as vfat when I check /tmp/probedpartition.log after the boot crashes and drops to the terminal. Later I will try the mount from the terminal and see if any more information from there. I think the responsible line in mountpartition is this. mount -t $MNT_FS -o $VFAT_OUT...

Re: Acer netbook with 64 bit Linux versions freezes on Internet

You could try to use ZRAM (Compressed RAM) as Swap. I'm running Bionicpup32 in a VM with only 672 MB of RAM and use the following. modprobe zram echo 1G > /sys/block/zram0/disksize mkswap --label zram0 /dev/zram0 swapon --priority 100 /dev/zram0 After you booted, open a terminal and execute the 4 li...

Just a very minor thing which I observed. Gnumeric is in the menu twice, once under Business and once under Personal.

PeasyPort and YASSM working now in this release.

Re: slacko64-8.0-pre-pre-pre-alpha! (and a bit)

In BionicPup32 there is a Multiple Sound Card Wizard (Right click on speaker icon in the Tray), that lets me select HDMI as audio output. Default is the internal sound card.

So far I couldn't find that Multiple Sound Card Wizard in Slacko64 8.0 pre-alpha.

Re: slacko64-8.0-pre-pre-pre-alpha! (and a bit)

Peasyport I managed to fix.

/usr/local/bin/peasyport (Line 188-192): Change <combobox> to <comboboxtext>

In BionicPup32 the peasyport script seems to be a different version, which doesn't use <combobox>. Don't know if it is a newer or older version.

So far I found the following not working.

-PeasyPort Lan Scanner (From terminal seems GTK3 related.)
-YASSM (From terminal seems GTK3 related.)
-Inkscape

Definitely better than pre-pre-pre-alpha. At least should name it alpha with no pre.

As far as I know you can gracefully close the vpn connection by pressing <CTRL>+C in the terminal. You can observe the logout messages in the terminal.

Maybe that is what you consider a kill switch.

I'm not using EasyOS, but use OpenConnect in BionicPup. For better troubleshooting maybe it makes sense to start the VPN connection from the terminal. For example for a connection to Cisco Anyconnect: openconnect --protocol=anyconnect your-vpn-server.com -u vpn-user The terminal output sometimes giv...

Windows shows it as CDROM and Linux too. SR0 is read-only modem internal flash memory with Windows drivers. I can mount it from Pmount app, but icon doesn't show on desktop (so it is cosmetic bug).
