Re: Vanilla Dpup 11.0.x Development Builds
I looked around and could not find a way to login as root.
Currently, there's no such option, and it requires very extensive changes to allow this.
You might want to reconsider.
Puppy started its life as root so the users can avoid to keep typing their password to do anything. And with ...

Re: Fatdog64-903 Final [17 Aug 2024]
@retiredt00, thank you for the feedback. I will look into it. How did you get the small initrd, did you use the BIOS Fatdog Installer, or created it yourself using fatdog-split-initrd?
Dear jamesbond thank you for your response.
Yes I used the FD902 BIOS Fatdog Installer. The initrd is 19MB and ...

Re: Fatdog64-903 Final [17 Aug 2024]
I was wondering if there is an easy way to update to 903 but keep the 902 kernel.
While in the huge initrd the usrespace sfs and the kernel sfs are distinct, when you install using the small inirtd, as in my case, you only have one sfs with everything in it. I do not know if there ...

Re: Vanilla Dpup 11.0.x Development Builds
Interestingly if you take pupsave folder out of the dpup11 folder at the root of the partition and you specify psave=UUID it does not work. The savefolder is not loaded.
It would appear that the psubdir= take precedence and everything is expected to be there or that all files are expected in ...

My guess is that /mnt/sdb1/easyos is not as empty as you think. It may have hidden files or folders.
Thank you. That was it!
A hard shutdown in the first attempt due to qemu display setting incompatibility, generated the hidden files. Works fine now.
A little annoyance that I have is the ...

I am wondering what I may be doing wrong here.

In retrospect was a very silly mistake.
(I was emptying the partitions... )
Anyway here is v3 where you can build and rebuild the image to iso.
v1 and v2 above are removed, though do work fine if you use them (the first time with a newly downloaded image).
BTW are all the downloads ...

Re: DistroWatch needs a newer Puppy version listed for Puppy Linux!!!!!
Is a pity that the puppylinux blog has taken down but I doubt that distrowatch is guided by google.
Is guided by trust to a developer. Barry Kauler and Mick Amadio (and maybe others, they should know who they are) have all been trusted in the past.
Maybe one of them can just send that e mail now!

Re: Vanilla Dpup 11.0.x Development Builds
I can appreciate the size/usage concern but I think it does not hold a lot of water.

I assume you are too busy too look at the details of the post but I think that when I installed 155 in a qemu VM in a wired machine and apt-get installed broadcom-sta, did not try to get gcc is a bug. The idea of apt-get (and its power over PPM claimed many times over) or any other ...
