Re: Getting shared folders to work with Oracle VirtualBox?

andrewlen My experience with using vbox extensions has been hit and miss. I just made a file share on my Windows computer and use Puppy's menu>network>Yassm Samba share mounter to open (mount) the folder. You do need to use Yassm v4.2 or higher, I've included a link to 4.5. This always works with a...

Re: Ventoy (Another Multi-Boot App) to create bootable USB drive using iso's

rockedge I'm not sure what qualifies as Live except that it can be used without install. The 2 Ubuntus are the latest Clonezilla and Rescuezilla iso's downloaded from their sites and can be installed to a usb, so I think they would be live versions. Also not sure where to check if the puppy iso's h...

@wiak

Just to note all of the iso files, 3 Puppy, 2 Ubuntu (the "zillas"), 1 Win7 and 1 Win10 booted without problems. It would be interesting to see if WDL would boot without the special code.

number77 If your goal is to learn how to make a iso copy that can be restored creating a bootable usb then do that. If however, you just want to backup the bootable usb I suggest you try either: Clonezilla, and you already know not to try the version in the ppm, instead download the iso from their ...

Even if you can't recover the bad save file itself, you should be able to recover any photos, documents, etc. that were on the bad save file.

Re: Installed clonezilla from PPM, now Xenial64 won't boot

You should disregard my reference to fossa64 9.5 since I only used it to find the problem and document the fix. The steps to fix should be the same for your xenial64. In one of your post above you said you deleted all the clonezilla files you could find. My question is, did you make a copy of the ba...

Re: Installed clonezilla from PPM, now Xenial64 won't boot

Did some testing on fossa64 9.5 and guess that it will be the same on your xenial64. Here is a archive that contains 2 files, overall_install_report.txt and login_4.8.1.files . My test showed that the login_4.8.1 package was the one keeping the system from booting so delete those files first and try...

Try creating the usb using: menu>setup>stickpup-usb stick installer. I've install fossa64 9.5 on lots of old dual cores and pentium D's.

Re: Fossapup not booting from flash drive - how do I add boot commands?

oneirophon If you want to use a 64bit puppy you might consider upgrading your cpu. If your Dell is a Dimension C521 you could put in a Athlon X2 5400+ which would almost triple your speed. You might have to upgrade the bios too, check if you have BIOS version 1.1.11. Ebay is listing the 5400+ for $...

Try validating your bootable usb by booting it on another computer. This will give you a known good point of reference.

Re: Fossapup not booting from flash drive - how do I add boot commands?

Taken from the fossa64 topic "approx minimum System Requirements: 2007 era 64bit core2duo cpu & 2gb ram". This may be your problem, I just used Rufus to create a fossa64 usb and it did boot on a machine that meets the min requirements. Even if you could get it to boot it would be slooo...

How would you like the bootable usb to be created? I have made a number of fossa64 9.5 bootable usb's using the StickPup installer and they boot on legacy mbr computers. Pretty slow on dual core and usb2.

And as usual, you are right about needing more info about the hardware.
