The problem is not with forums.puppylinux.com it's with www.puppylinux.com. And I too use rockedge's link as that's what I've been using since the launch of this forum. The link was changed later to forum.puppylinux.com. Thanks, everyone.

I ran that. I think Airtel is blocking the traffic. After running for about 30 seconds the command displayed "(no route to host)". I could access puppy.com from my brother's phone and wifi hotspot (he uses Vodafone). Thanks for the help.

Yes I am able to go to smokey website using both https and http. I am having this problem both on my desktop and on my Android phone. I am accessing this website from New Delhi India and my ISP is Airtel. Could that be a problem?

I don't remember, but, I've been having this problem for very long. Whenever I try to go to puppylinux I'm presented with a page 403 forbidden. What can I do? I'm currently using Xubuntu but I always have Puppy also installed on my HDD. So mine is a three OS system. Windows, Xubuntu, Puppy.

Thanks for the reply. I think this is what I was looking for. bs=1 and count=1 means to write '0's for a total of 1MB in size. Right? If I put count=2 and bs=4mb that would mean a total size of 8mb.

I often use dd command for filling my USB with zeroes and then later formatting it using the style that I want. However, my USB stick is 16 GB and it takes around 40 mins for dd to fill it with zeroes. I just want to erase the partition details so that the USB appears to be non-formatted instead of ...

I tried to search online but not able to understand the real difference. All this seems similar to me. Can someone please explain the real difference between these OS. Currently im using BionicPup and tried DebianDog both appear to work in the same way.

Puppy has its own slimed down version of packages. I installed XAMPP on it and that was about 60MB while the mainstream version is over 200MB. If I start using DebianDog will I get the slimed down version of packages in DD too? I'm asking this because I have used Lubuntu in the past and it works ...

I installed XAMPP a version made for puppy. It is tiny and works fine but not with wordpress.

The file I edit to change the brightness directly on my system is 'brightness'. The change take effect immediately as soon as I hit save. May be your hardware is different. Anyways if some other solution works for you then stick with that

The sound is back again on both firefox and palemoon and also on vlc. I de-select the card in settings and then re-selected the same card, and that fixed the issue. But jankybluetooth is still not able to find the default device.

I also just realised that the sound is not working now on Firefox and Palemoon both. Before it was working. If I play videos on MPV Media player then there is sound but not on palemoon and firefox. I think I should try some other puppy distribution as one thing or the other keeps on breaking on ...

You can directly control the screen brightness with a file that is found in
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/
The file is as you might have guessed already is 'brightness'

Alright, so once again I'm back with a new question.

How to use git on puppy? I tried to install it using the PPM but under the list of installed applications, it shows that GIT came preinstalled on puppy. But when I run command git on the terminal it shows no git command found error.

Thanks for the reply Mike, as always it's quite helpful. I ran the following command and it seems the kernel was compiled with sysrq option turned on. It is not activated by default though. See below:

I set up the hot keys no problem in that. The way you mentioned with ALT + SHIFT_L is what I chose. It is just that I came across this bug. If I open JWM Hotkeys windows then it will work, but sometimes it doesn't. So thought to metion it here in the official forums.
