Re: Error running Rescuezilla on Fossapup64

The first error message says it needs to have the kernel driver nbd (Network Block Device) You can enable it by running in a terminal: modprobe nbd Or you can do modprobe nbd before the app starts, for example from a script in /root/Startup/ or you can configure it in /etc/modules The second message ...

Re: Google Chrome can't access folders\files in the computer

@williams2 - I didn't understand what I can do I don't think you can do much. The point of running as spot, is to limit the damage that spot can do. If you run as root, you can save files anywhere, any time. I boot without a save file (pfix=ram) Usually, i want to save to the hard drive. So i mount ...

Re: Google Chrome can't access folders\files in the computer

You can mount an ntfs file system so that it is readable and writable by a user like spot. The whole point of spot, is that it is unprivileged so it can not damage the file systems. But you have your save file on that ntfs file system. Many file systems like ext3 allow it to be remounted with ...

In a file system like ISO9660. each file is contiguous and not fragmented and each file is concatinated one after the other. Re: UPX compression for application binaries/files?

A PET file is basically a tar.gz file, which is compressed using gzip or xz or lzma etc etc. So upx would not make much difference to the size of a PET file. Installing a PET uncompresses all the files in the PET file. So upx-ed executables will take a little less space in a save file. If a upx-ed ...

Yes I think I understand. There are windows that you probably don't want to resize. Whether a window manager respects the programmer's settings or not is another matter. Linux draws ...

My initial thought was to save some memory, but that does not appear so

If you want to save the 500MB or so that the sfs files take in ram,
you can use the pfix=nocopy kernel option.

it's not really a kernel option the kernel passes it to Puppy's init(rd)

It would be added as a service most likely. If you are referring to iptables-restore it's not a daemon, it just runs for a few milliseconds and exits. Puppy has /etc/init.d/ and /etc/rc0.d and /etc/rc1.d and /etc/rc2.d etc etc for scripts to start services. If KLV uses systemd that would be more ...
