Re: Proposal for a Further Updated and New F96-CE_5
As a bog standard user I would say Absolutely worth another upgrade! I know, easy for me to say, since I don't have to do the work - but frankly, F96-CE4 is far and away the best version ever on my ancient DELL laptop.

Re: Monitor scaling question
In many puppies there is a small utility named "Font Manager" listed under Desktop group. Not sure if this exists for Vanillapup ...but it is has the option to set a font size globally.
The default is usually 96 or 100, but I have mine set to 102.

Have you tried setting the "minimum" font size? This works for me ie any message I compose, or any message I read will show text at this minimum size.

Re: Fossapup64's Osmo's Markup Problem
I also run fossapup64 9.6 and am a constant user of osmo. I do not experience any problems with Osmo either adding, deleting or editing tasks. Could it be something else besides the F96 build? Kernel version? ...or something else?

Re: Austere browsers for modern websites?
@dogle
I just checked these two sites:
https://www.cvs.com/
https://www.tollsbymailny.com/en/home/index.shtml
Both of them work using iron browser and Watefox - BUT ONLY if the IP address is in the US (which I tested using my VPN service)

Re: Austere browsers for modern websites?
@dogle
I would also offer Waterfox (originally based on firefox code). 64bit only, but well maintained. Works well on my (very old) DELL laptop.

I find these two services (via browser) work fine for me using chromium based browsers on F96 on a very old Dell laptop.

Why not just use an AV service from the web? There are plenty to choose from including jitsi
https://jitsi.org/ which works well for me using any chromium browser.

Re: run-as-spot chromuim-ungoogled
yes, that would probally work. I will look up the
--test-type "$@"
option and see what it's all about.
This option just removes the annoying message "you are using an unsupported command line flag --no-sandbox. Stability and security will suffer"

I've been using the appimage version successfully for some time now. Might be the easiest solution for you.
