Re: BookwormPup: how to prevent suspend when laptop lid closed? (Solved)

..sure, I realize this is a bit 'crude' - but what I have also done is create a very small script called pcsleep.sh containing (amongst other things I want to do) these lines: # sleep the pc echo mem > /sys/power/state I then just attached that to a desktop file called PCSleep.desktop and created a ...

Re: Prevent suspend when laptop lid closed

I don't use BookwormPup64 ..but it might be similar to other puppies. I use Fossapup64 and on this system - and all the previous puppies I've used - there has been a file called 00000080 in the directory /etc/acpi/LID On previous puppies it has been this file which controls what happens when the LID...

Re: Proposal for a Further Updated and New F96-CE_5

As a bog standard user I would say Absolutely worth another upgrade! I know, easy for me to say, since I don't have to do the work - but frankly, F96-CE4 is far and away the best version ever on my ancient DELL laptop.

Audio output error if I reboot with speaker plugged into headphone jack - (solved)

I am using Fossapup64 F96 on a Dell Latitude. All is working perfectly including sound with pulseaudio. In the pulseaudio volume control window it lists 3 output options: Speakers Headphones Line Out Context: I often use an external audio conference speaker which plugs into the Headphone jack. If I ...

Re: Monitor scaling question

In many puppies there is a small utility named "Font Manager" listed under Desktop group. Not sure if this exists for Vanillapup ...but it is has the option to set a font size globally.
The default is usually 96 or 100, but I have mine set to 102.

Re: "windowsteps" window arranger

I often end up with my taskbar full of minimised windows and I cant read the window titles or drive label because they are truncated. @rockedge had a recent post which prompted the idea of tiling all open windows - which I cannot do - but here is an alternative. This "windowsteps" utility...

Have you tried setting the "minimum" font size? This works for me ie any message I compose, or any message I read will show text at this minimum size.

Re: Fossapup64's Osmo's Markup Problem

I've had the problem under multiple computers and multiple kernels. I would have assumed the problem was a conflict with some other program. But as noted in my OP, it still showed up on an almost 'virgin' Fossapup64. One of the reasons for the above qualification is that I've imported records creat...

I also run fossapup64 9.6 and am a constant user of osmo. I do not experience any problems with Osmo either adding, deleting or editing tasks. Could it be something else besides the F96 build? Kernel version? ...or something else?

Re: Firefox downloads fail

I'm using fossapup64 9.6 (not vanilladpup) - but browsers in Fossapup also run as 'spot' (if selected to run that way). My easy solution is to: create a folder named named 'my-downloads' in any location you choose symlink that folder into 'spot' symlink the 'spot' link into root ..and then in the br...

Not sure exactly what you mean. I've been using TB for quite some time, and am using the current 115 version. The text still looks normal on my fossapup64 9.6 Perhaps it is some something on your platform - display settings, or font or compositor or something? Any more details you can provide for th...

I use fossapup9.6 - but maybe wbar works the same in bookworm. The background 'bar' is just an icon you can select in the preferences. You can try different options to get what you prefer. I have used a semi transparent icon named dock.png which you should find in /usr/share/pixmaps/wbar. I have att...

@dogle

I just checked these two sites:
https://www.cvs.com/
https://www.tollsbymailny.com/en/home/index.shtml

Both of them work using iron browser and Watefox - BUT ONLY if the IP address is in the US (which I tested using my VPN service)

I would also offer Waterfox (originally based on firefox code). 64bit only, but well maintained. Works well on my (very old) DELL laptop.

yes, that would probally work. I will look up the --test-type "$@" option and see what it's all about.

This option just removes the annoying message "you are using an unsupported command line flag --no-sandbox. Stability and security will suffer"
