Re: DpupBuster CE 64 and 32 bit
Thanks for the info on bullseye, dasouth. It has the same old issues with htop and pupclockset. The delay after startup before (sns) wireless connection process starts is far lower at about 20 seconds. I could not find a word processor (such as abiword) installed. There are a few improvements and a ...

Re: DpupBuster CE 64 and 32 bit
I've been using dpupbuster64-8.0.0 RC3 (jwm version) daily for awhile now. It has been stable. I use the latest version of firefox (now at 88). A couple of apps were broken, and I used PupClockset-2.7.pet and htop-2.0.2-x86_64.pet (easily found). abiword wasn't installed but can be installed via PPM ...

Re: Waterfox browser
I was using waterfox current, and an update turned into a mess since
the update installed G3.0.1 which doesn't work properly (on a couple
of pups and fatdog). I now use the classic version which works well
on fossa64 and bio64 (latest versions) but not on fatdog 811.

Re: Peculiar problem with a fatdog remaster
Another shot: are you using the same bootloader on that Dell and on other boxes? If not and if you're using Grub (3rd party, not the one provided by recent Fatdogs) on Dell, it might be the culprit, because unpatched Grub limits the size of initrd to max. ~462M. We have Grub patched to remove that ...

Re: Peculiar problem with a fatdog remaster
It's a long shot, but maybe this particular computer grabs more RAM for video card than the other ones? According to its specs , it has no dedicated VRAM and can use up to 1.7G of system RAM. Greetings! Didn't know that but one of my own shots in the dark was to increase Ram size from 4g to 8g. No ...

Peculiar problem with a fatdog remaster
I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 7010 that has a peculiar problem on a Fatdog remaster using a humungous initrd. When attempting to run it, I get a error message saying the item doesn't fit in memory. I don't get the error using the un-remastered Fatdog. I don't get the error when using several ...

Re: Fossapup64 9.0.5 RC3
hi @art what specs does this computer have? It's a dell optiplex 3020 having quad core i5 and 4g ram. Fossa 9.0.5 frugal installed on internal ssd. It seems that retrovol tries to "take hold" but my slow-to-start wireless "blanks it out". art i'ld like to leave retrovol as is unless there are more ...

Re: Fossapup64 9.0.5 RC3
I often experience no volume control after booting up. I then click on retrovol.desktop in autostart. Seems its activation should be delayed a few seconds. art hi @art what specs does this computer have? It's a dell optiplex 3020 having quad core i5 and 4g ram. Fossa 9.0.5 frugal installed on ...

Waterfox browser
https://www.waterfox.net/download/ I've been using waterfox daily for quite some time. The performance and speed are very impressive. The browser is 64 bits. It's available in two flavors ... the "current" (which I use) and the "classic" ... as explained at the above url. The "firefox-like" setup ...

Re: Fossapup64 9.0.4 RC2
Linssid is a wireless signal strength app I install via ppm on several pups including fossa 9.0.3. It does not work on 9.0.4. I managed to get it working using a deb I found in 9.0.3 save folder: libboost-regx1.71.0_1.71.0-6ubuntu6_amd64.deb But that's as far as I've gotten with trying to learn what ...

Re: Fossapup64 9.0.4 RC2
The retrovol problem I experienced using 9.0.3 is more severe using 9.0.4. If you recall, setting tray_control=16 fixed 9.0.3 .... but 9.0.4 is stuck with four "cards" selected. Edit: In .retrovolrc I changed card=hw:0 to card=hw:1 then did a configure and reboot to solve the problem. art
