It is probably .tcz and not .tzc.
Uextract supports extracting almost anything, included .tcz files.

pkg has dir2repo. That may be able to add a local repo.

Re: How do we .deb package install on the command line?
Could pkg from @sc0ttman help you out?
It is command line and 'integrated' with PPM.
It comes with Fossapup and with builds from @josejp2424 and maybe some others.
You could probably install it on other Puppys if they are not too old.

Re: Cool 'retro' terminal...a 'fun' way to use the terminal!
Don't mean to spoil the fun but ...
on Fossapup I am using CRT for a while now and it just installed fine from the PPM.
A lot of qt5 stuff installed with it of course.
I think it is in ubuntu's repo since focal (FF).
@mikewalsh Nice to have it for older Puppys as well. Thanks.

I am a noob, never done that, but I wonder:
Is devx not there somewhere in a directory uncompressed?

@bigpup
You surprised me putting Puppy next to Gentoo and Arch, but you are probably right.
Nice decision tree, asking the important questions indeed.

Re: Broken unicode support on fossapup64 9.5 (Solved)
I read that you have troubles with unicode support in urxvt in fossapup?
Have you tried changing
Code: Select all
TERM=xterm
in /etc/profile to
Code: Select all
TERM=rxvt-unicode-256color
maybe
Code: Select all
TERM=rxvt-unicode
?
It helped me to get MC working properly with 256color skins in urxvt.

Re: Run browsers as root or not?
Never had a problem either.
Running as root.
I have had lots of issues on windows at the time.
But I cannot say whether running as a user there had something to do with it.
If it had something to do with it, then bettter not run as user.
