In those early Days... i used "MacPup" mainly......was my favorite One...E17 Enightenment was/is my favorite Desktop.
Wondered why this Guy (sadly) left the (Puppy) Building....

I think it would be simpler to say that Puppy can run persistently, non-persistenly or in a persistent-on-demand mode where the user decides when to save. Nobody outside of the Puppy world wants to hear the PUPMODE stuff.

Yes .....there is a Trick/Option to write changes (temporary or permanently) directly to your changes folder (Drive).

Just realized ......if you have "umatrix" installed in your Browser ....you have to disable or modify it somehow .....otherwise (it seems) you can not connect to "Cloudflare".

Make a little Script:

echo "nameserver 8.8.4.4" >> /etc/resolv.conf
#Downloaded from www.puppylinuxfaq.org
Give it a Name (Cloudflare) ...make executable.
Just click on it ........go look for "/etc/resolv.conf".

..Maybe try adding "pmedia=ataflash" to your Kernel Line......or "pmedia=atahd".
