Re: amethyst (a long time member of this forum) has decided to stop posting

Okay, people. bigpup and I have come to peace. Although we didn't fight (it was a matter of principle). But my point of view has NOT changed. I didn't see what was supposed to be. A shaky truce. For my part, I will try to "talk" less often on the forum and mostly listen. As few posts as po...

That's fine, but I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Deleted what?!

Please don't interfere. You are in this story by accident and are not responsible in this case. It's just that someone didn't even let you read the post and didn't let you decide for yourself.

In three hours, the 24 hours will expire. It seems that there will be no explanations anymore. I treated Wiak with respect. You don't even know what you deleted and you can't admit it. I won't be here soon and you can do whatever you want.

Re: Whats up in Puppy World

I am sad for all your 'acquaintances and friends'. They are doomed to spend eternity beside themselves because the ARE NO serious devs who use nothing but their own OS's. That's like saying you would only trust a mechanic who only drove cars that were built by himself. On a separate note, it's nice...

Re: Distributed Computing on LAN

Alternatively, I've also looked at a new graphics card. Actually have looked before today. Notice my local PC store has GT710 on sales for $44, which should have GPU encoding enabled. Otherwise 1030's are $99. All pretty cheap. Have you done video transcoding using GPU? I have read some forum posts...

Two will leave, one will come. I saw a glimpse at the bottom of the screen that the newest forum user had registered as scottj. If it's Scott Jarvis, then I'm calm. If this is the author of Puppy Arcade, then he will continue the section about Emulation. And if it's not him, then nothing terrible wi...

Deleted (violated terms of this forum) By the way, a certain percentage of my acquaintances and friends do not trust developers who themselves do not use (all the time) the OS they develop or support. OK, let's soften the term a bit ;) ... It's not that they don't trust, but rather they are... wary...

Side story... Hello. This is a good topic. When I worked for a small local TV company, I was interested/engaged in this. But not now. Right now I only know about Blender. 2 network renderers: 1. I just happened to add RAM to my AIO computer . I can't squeeze more than 4 GB anymore, but at least this way. Yes, I have spoiled myself too much with large volumes on other computers🤔 I came to the conclusion that it is best to make your own OS build for a specific machine. With flags during compi...

A feeling of sincere joy when you find out that your computer supports more memory than you thought

The day before yesterday, I unexpectedly discovered that my old (but in excellent condition) HP monoblock (OK - all-in-one PC) supports 4 gigabytes of RAM. HP Compaq Presario 100eu AIO. I was sure it was 2, because it was said on the official website and on a bunch of other sites at the time of purc...

Re: Arch variants similar to Puppy in its spirit

Sounds just like using some of the desktop environments made to layer on top of MS-DOS back in 1988-1994 OR using Norton's Commander as the "desktop" on top of DOS....... We even sang a guitar song about DOS and Norton in the 90s. In the song, cheerful Norton deleted (yes, F8) 40 megabyte...

Arch variants similar to Puppy in its spirit

So, which of the Arch variants is most similar to Puppy in its spirit? Well, it's probably Obarun . Without systemd. S6 supervision suite as init and 66 as service management. JWM as windows manager. There is also ArchBang . But there's just an Openbox. In addition, the author's mood, like mine, dep...

Reality check? doesn't use PPM (any more) and isn't called "Puppy" and isn't built with official Puppy woof-CE (though derived a bit from it I gather). Note also, at least as far as I understand them, I also hope that in the future there will be some kind of orderly standard. So far, I've...

These regulators have been available since the '70s so they are cheap and there's tons of information about how to use them. Start by reading the fine print of the data sheet. Is this due to the old age of these power supplies or the 10V higher input current? The capacitors are all dry there. Yes, in the 90s and early 2000s, such Chinese adapters were sold on every radio market. The quality then was you know what. Throw it all out the window. You have the leadership of t...
