Re: Anyone else get this 'General Error' message when logging in?

It was an error caused by the MySQL server having too many simultaneous attempted connections. This most likely was cause by Bots or hack attempts to flood the database. These were defeated and the error routine worked as intended. All is well and will continued to be monitored. Another case would ...

Re: Booting Fossapup64 from existing GRUB2

I'm somewhere in this ballpark but I don't quite understand what I'm doing. I was unable to install Fossa to Grub from inside Fossa itself as it said the drive was ntfs and could not be used. I can't format the drive as it's running Windows 10 which I need for work. However I managed to install Lin...

Re: What's the password for CUPS in Fatdog?

Someone gave me an HP printer because they'd broken the latch that holds in the ink cartridge. I taped in the ink cartridge, but CUPS in EasyPup didn't list the exact model. So I picked one that seemed close and it worked, but only in black and white. I only print documents. No color here either. I...

Re: What's the password for CUPS in Fatdog?

I spent way too much time on ths today. I tried entering the web address. I tried the package manager for the drivers. CUPS wants the PPD but it does not see the one I installed from the package manager. Somehow I managed to kill my wireless router. Screwed up my Windows so they would not print. I d...

Re: What's the password for CUPS in Fatdog?

Thanks. I opened CUPS in Firefox. Cups saw the printer. It is asking for a PPD file. Do I download this from Brother ?? Its been 4 or 5 years since Perdido helped me do this on the old Puppy forum and I just do not remember the details. I do know I had to do some stuff in the terminal.

What's the password for CUPS in Fatdog?

Yesterday I discovered Fatdog could be installed with LICK so I had to give it a try. Really like it. When I go to CUPS to add a printer it asks for a password here. http://localhost:631 is requesting your username and password. The site says: “CUPS”. I do not know what password it is asking for. He...

Re: How are people using Fossapup64?

Fossapup is my go to OS on a 10 year old Dell laptop. Also have xenial and Windows 10 partitions. I boot and install my pups with Lick. Its crazy fast and easy to use. The Dell is old but over speced for the job. 250 gig solid state hard drive and 8 gigs of RAM.

Re: Lick

Are you using the latest version of Lick? v1.3.4 https://github.com/noryb009/lick/releases Well, this does seem to be a recently reported issue on the Lick web site. https://github.com/noryb009/lick/issues/40 feature called 'Fast Startup'. This cannot be enabled if LICK is installed. LICK disables ...

Windows update messed up Lick bootloader.

Windows update totally messed up my Lick bootloader. Lick makes things so fast and easy I can not imagine using any thing else. Ive been using Lick for a couple years so I'd have to figure all that out again. Used Windows 10 without updating for about a year. I finally gave in to the notices and did...

Re: Lick and Windows crashes

While I can't be sure, I don't have a Windows 10 machine, but this sure sounds like when Windows "crashes" it is restoring from some last known good system restore point, perhaps from prior to running Lick and installing Puppy. So, you might try saving your system restore point when boote...
