Re: Keyboard Shortcuts to Open and Close Apps?

I use Fossapup64 + LXDE, so I dont have the option of using the JWM technique, also with BW64 + LxDE. I use super-key + t to get lxterminal opened on the desktop, as alt + t is already taken: # Edit /root/.config/openbox/rc.xml Edit - insert after line ~ 261 <keybind key="W-t"> # windows/s...

Re: How to Tune Up a PuppyLinux Frugal Install on a Virtual Machine

I often run Virtual machines under QEMU with a similar setup to yours and have had few problems. But, even with non-virtual puppy OSs I sometimes need to clear the memory caches (especially running WINE) , so this may be helpful in any case. I have adapted what others have written and linked it to a...

I have had troubles with some GUIs under wine, and found that running the program in a virtual desktop helped. Its one of the options in wine config, under graphics, I think You can set to size of the desktop to suit, too.

Re: Installing fossapup onto USB

This is a different approach again, and requires a running version of Puppy Linux, eg Fossapup64, Bionicpup64. (I use this basic method to make a disk image in a virtual machine which I then burn to the USB, especially if I am making multiple copies of the USB). I'm sorry but not every step is fully...

Re: Simple, hackable offline speech to text

I attempted to run nerd-dictation in BW64 and got the same error as mentioned earlier. No success with FP95 which had pulseaudio. Similar in a Debian Dog Virtual machine using QEMU. However, I setup a Jammypup64 virtual machine using QEMU, and it worked first time. The audio passthrough (using switc...

Re: Copy Easy to another pendrive?

I prefer to copy whole partitions using GPARTED, but it must be run as a standalone OS, which in my case I have on a USB. The LIVE ISO can be downloaded from: https://gparted.org/download.php. Once set up, it can be used repeatedly to quickly clone selected partitions. Nevertheless, one should begin...

Re: What QEMU Packages Need To Be Installed in BookwormPup?

On a slightly divergent note, QEMU can also be used to boot standalone HDDs, SSDs, and USBs by a slight change to the code. Much easier than in VirtualBox. In the script example below ( for a legacy installation ), the bootable media is on drive /dev/sdc modprobe kvm-intel # start KVM qemu-system-x8...

Should QEMU be built-in/included in each WoofCE PUP's DEVX?

You understand its benefit there.

Well I'm not sure what the benefit is, as its quite easy to install using APT. You just have to know how.

BTW, Bookwormpup64 is a great platform on which to run QEMU due to its low resource usage.

If you're talking about the Debian Bookworm package of QEMU - I use it all the time with zero issues.

Yes, and it is the package version 7.2

I have Windows 10 on almost all my desktops and laptops. I keep it there just in case....Never needed it in 6+ years of using Puppy Linux exclusively as my daily driver. Maybe one day... The issue for me is the boot location. Having the EFI boot from a separate USB, SDD, HDD or even a SD card keeps ...

Having an already installed Linux distro with grub2 does make this type of installation easy as you suggest. I did this for a few years with MX-Linux as the base install.
