Re: No sound over HDMI

It's me again. I have this new (second hand) Lenovo ThinkCentre and all the above issues do NOT apply anymore. NO issues with sound whatsoever. So the former issues where machine specific. Just needed to say that as so many of you where helping me out to get it solved and again thank you all for tha...

Looks and feels great! :thumbup2: (Posting from it now)

Creating the container went down with no fuss at all. Will keep using it for the rest of this evening as I would with 5.4.5.

Re: Pup Only (One week and counting)

2 weeks now. 8-) Ghehhehe, got to start somewhere right? Seriously though I have pretty much set my Vanilla Dpup up the way to my liking and haven't been using my traditional OS since. Well, updated it once and that's it. While using Puppy on a daily basis it's benefits are getting clearer. Way fas...

Re: How to install OpenVPN in Fusilli?

@OscarTalks Just tried to configure vpn on/off which wasn't that hard to do but did hit a snag.

Couldn't create a symlink and name it as you described in the README. (F96-CE). Will give it another shot.

[How To] Install NordVPN (CLI client) in Vanilla Dpup.

Here is what I learned. Before going through the procedure I assume the reader: 1) Has knowledge about installing NordVPN on traditional distros and 2) Is familiar with the NordVPN login api The first step is pretty straight forward and the same as on traditional distros. Go to https://support.nordv...

Re: Pup Only (One week and counting)

mikeslr I managed to get the NordVPN CLI app working on VanillaDpup! :geek: Running now as I type. It wasn't as straight forward as I was used to install it on regular distros but I did it (eventually). Going to write a how to for other members today. Next is to install through OpenVPN via OscarTal...

OscarTalks THAT is very helpful! You know after a whole DAY after reading, researching, learning, trials and errors you posted this lol. I just finished reading extensively on OpenVPN (also on the NordVPN site) and I think I have a pretty good idea how to proceed next. Downloaded your app, read the...

Re: OpenVPN?

Jasper thanks for that. I have been using the command line for using Nord on my bare metal machine for 2 years now and that installs quite easily via "curl". Setup in minutes, nordvpnd running right of the bat, no fuss. Puppy works differently (stating the obvious) and I tried to install ...

Re: OpenVPN?

Hi: I suppose you have a user name and password for OpenVPN, in this case, I think (other more prepared user can confirm or not) you must go to ... MENU - PUPPY SET UP - PACKAGER MANAGER ... and there look for OpenVPN and you have got the resources to connect and manage your connection. Install it,...

How to install OpenVPN in Fusilli?

Hi everyone. I'm taking F96-CE for a test walk and this weekend I will see to get my NordVPN started. Is there a way to install Open VPN on Fusilli? EDIT: Good distro, I like it so far after a week using it as a daily driver. There is a "VPN App" on Fusilli which seems to be not working/di...

I don't have NordVPN; and you may already have discovered the below link. Re: Pup Only (One week and counting)

Hi there Are you using a subscription based VPN? If your moving forwards with a frugal installation. It would be useful to inform members what storage device you plan to use and size. Also, RAM might be useful too. Especially, if you need to create a SWAP file. Yup, subscription. NordVPN. I tried t...

Saved session, rebooted and sound is working once more without having to conf...

Re: No sound over HDMI [SOLVED]

Both 5.3 and 5.3.1 had the same issues. and which version worked? 5.3.1 5.3 may have worked as well after so many fresh installs and configurations, I don't know. 5.3.1 was on a USB I use(d) or my MackBook Air and plugged that one into my PC. The previous installs of .1 I made on my PC all "fa...

mikewalsh I could be talking out of the top of my head here, but do remember that most of Barry's creations over the last several years have been highly experimental in part. Re: No sound over HDMI

If you're desperate... 1) Try USB audio card adapter- they are very cheap(under $10) and should work. You would have to choose the adaptor with the sound card wizard. 2) If you have free PCI slot try a cheap (second hand) video card I use NVIDIA Geforce gtx1030 but there are cheaper ones available....
