Xorg.Conf Configured To Use Built-In Motherboard GPU

I was trying the F96-CE_XFCE_FUSILLI and on first boot, I got a black screen. I did CTRL+ALT+BCKSPC to get to console. Ran "cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf" and noticed it was configured to use intel driver for the built-in motherboard gpu and the BusID not commented out as well. Edited the configu...

F96-CE_XFCE_FUSILLI - Kernel Mismatch When Building GPU Driver

Was trying to install NVidia driver using getnvidia on F96CE_XFCE_FUSILLI

  • uname -a gives me 6.0.12-FP

  • kernel I'm using is kernel_sources-6.0.12-FP.sfs

When I ran getnvidia, I got a kernel mismatch error. When executing the NVidia run driver installer, it also fails building kernel module

Unfortunately I don't have that option in BIOS but I was able to figure it out. It took me a good while though to remember that I have to type b: , c: , d: etc.... to change drive. I downloaded "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-470.239.06.run". "fixmenus" didn't help but I searched for the executable file and found it in /usr/bin. Clicked on it and it worked. Why did it not create an entry on the menu?

NVIDIA_SETTING for Legacy GPU (SOLVED)

Good Day ALL! I have a legacy gpu Quadro K5000 that wasn't supported by the nvidia drivers provided in the BookWormPup64 package manager, aside from nouveau of course, so I had to download the installer from nvidia website. Installation was flawless with no hiccups except I don't have the NVidia set...

Re: How delete old drivers audio/graphics in Pupxxxsave.4fs?

Ah gotcha. I misunderstood. Yeah, that's a tough one. I think it would be better off having a SFS copy of all the programs you use so you can start fresh on all computers and load all SFS files. That's what I did and all my personal files are SAMBA shared so it doesn't matter what pc I'm using, I ca...

Re: How delete old drivers audio/graphics in Pupxxxsave.4fs?

I don't think you can use a Xenial savefile for other computers running different flavor of puppy like Tahr, Slacko, Bookworm, Bionic, etc... Maybe IF ALL of your computers are running XenialPup, you "might" get lucky. And that's still a might.

Im not sure if brsanescan4 will only work for brother printer scanners (it's what i have), but you can try:

brsaneconfig4 -a name=UserSelectedDeviceName model=ModelName ip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Ex: brsaneconfig4 -a name=MyScanner model=MFCL8900CDW ip=192.168.1.9

Re: How delete old drivers audio/graphics in Pupxxxsave.4fs

I personally don't know how to manually delete old drivers but what I can suggest is you can try mounting the 4FS file, edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf to use "vesa" as your video driver and save so all the computers you use, no matter if it has AMD or NVidia, it will ("cross-fingers") u...

One last thing on this. Xcompmgr is very small in size. Maybe it can be added by default on the next release and include a setting on jwmdesk for transprency?

Just a thought. Thanks.

JWM - small font menu and transparency (SOLVED)

Loving the fluxbox neat appearance which lead from not being able to figure out how to configure jwm. Is there a way to make jwm:

- Have small fonts? Was able to make main menu smaller using jwmdesk but not the sub-menus (desktop right-click. taskbar menu/sub-menu is ok)
- Transparent?

@mikeslr Your trick worked like a charm.

- Extracted the SFS I've created
- deleted all the %U from the .desktop files
- dir2sfs [folder]

And just like that, no more error. All in under 10 minutes
