Using the 64bit Seamonkey I am unable to get onto Facebook. Is this a common issue or just me?

Re: Do not use abreviation to give Puppy version information

But what if the person does not know exactly which iso was used to create their installation? Then an extra bit of detective work may be necessary. I just tried this one liner: ls -lt /initrd/mnt/tmpfs > /root/pupfiles.txt It lists details of my puppy files - including modification date - to a text ...

Re: F96-CE_4 Latest Stable Release

Second to that. I'm in the midst of a 'divorce' from fossapup64-9.5. I've been 'flirting' with BookwormPup64 in the past few days. I guess tech ain't like wine, which ages gracefully over time. Interested to know why you are divorcing from Fossa9.5 ? Is it because you have recent hardware or for so...

Re: Do not use abreviation to give Puppy version information

I wonder if it would be possible to write a bash script that collected a bunch of info (including distro_specs) and other stuff that would remove doubt about the puppy under test. Maybe including info such as creation date/time and size of main puppy sfs? Would be handy to ask newbies to click on th...

"It requires modification of some files - then a remaster (or similar) to lock it in permanently." 1. I certainly would have been unable to have done that. 2. By "lock it in permanently" do you mean into the iso file used to install the Puppy? So it would be a permanent feature ...

So what do I do now to get the shutdown/reboot->SAVE/NOSAVE feature? That was a specific modification to the shutdown procedure. Somewhere in the old forum. Don't think I have seen it in this new forum. It requires modification of some files - then a remaster (or similar) to lock it in permanently....

Display a UVC compliant webcam image

There is various software available for many puppies to allow display of a UVC compliant webcam - but here is another possible way using your browser. Navigate to this webpage: https://apps.ipevo.com/pwa/visualizer.app/ It may allow you to display a realtime feed of your webcam image. (Click on the ...

Re: Fossa64-Mid - Discontinued

I am trialling a piece of software that drives a UVC compliant webcam (called a "visualizer" for documents) and it is based on Java. So i think I need a "JRE" to suit F95.

Anyone have any idea what I should load in order to enable running a .jar utility?

Cheers!

Would it be valid to write it this way :

1. I'm now posting this from within "FossaPup64 CE->Firefox ESR" [up-to-date 115.9.1 1esr (64-bit)]. 2. The booting of this 64-bit FossaPup64 from the CD-RW is TOO SLOW for my liking. Is that because it's booting from CD? Boot speed is a function of: a) Speed of the source media. (CD is s...

So is my motherboard 64-bit? Yes, 64 bit with approx 8GB of RAM. Perfect for trialling pretty much any pup you wish to try. (You appear to have no swap set up though - so I would suggest setting up a swap partition at some point once you have decided which pup or pups you will use into the future...)

Running puppy from alternative power sources

I started this project because my son lives on a rural farm block that has no mains power and needed an alternative way to reliably power his Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop. Not a solution - but an interesting xrandr function is able to scale the desktop. (Unfortunately still leaves the video origin (0,0) at top left of the screen but may have some uses...) Increase the screen size by 20% (zoom-out): xrandr --output <screen-name> --scale 1.2x1.2 eg xrandr --output LVDS-...

IF DPup 'Stretch' will run peebee's 64-bit_compat SFS directly (I'm thinking it should), you ought to be able to run 64-bit browsers right there in DPup 'Stretch'.....without need to resort to the chrooted Puppy. I haven't tried it - I mainly do this with a special build of Xenialpup 7.5 I set-up s...

Re: NetFlix shenanigans.......with Slacko 5.6.0!

In this case, Ian, it mostly boils down to how much RAM & storage you have available! Don't forget; to achieve this effect - running 64-bit browsers inside a 32-bit Chroot, then accessing those browsers from your 32-bit Puppy - you're essentially running two Pups at the same time. Yes, this may...

It's pretty sad that a useful Puppy becomes EOL just because the Debian repos go offline. Dpup Stretch 7.5 (32bit) - PuppyPin question [SOLVED]

Does anyone know where the PuppyPin has gone in Dpup Stretch 7.5 (32bit) ?

I need to move the trash icon somewhere away from top left.

And I want to add the Home icon to top left instead of the current Trash icon.

Thanks for any tips!
